Hi!
I'm 22, not on the pill, sexually active but always use protection.
I moved out from my parents in January and bought a house with my boyfriend. I used to suffer from agonizing periods - so bad I would almost pass out. They were irregular and very very heavy. When we first moved I was nearly 3 weeks late and had a bad yeast infection due to the stress of moving (me and change don't get on well!) Anyway, after that my periods got so so much easier! I suffer from very little pain (if at all) and they have become as regular as clockwork- though I've had recurring thrush a couple of times and once or twice I have bled after sex when I haven't used a lubricant.
The thing I have noticed the most is the fact I have been getting ovulation discharge - something which I hadn't really gotten before, for about 5-6 months.
This month I've been getting the very stretchy discharge every day for almost a week. It came around the right time but it hasn't gone away. Its Pale Yellowy/light tan/creamy colour occassionally with darker "old blood" streaks and occassionally just completely transparent- there is no pain, no odour and its the same as every other ovulation discharge I've had. After I wipe away the discharge, I get that tacky light tan discharge I get before I start my period, which I haven't really had before at ovulation. My Stretchy ovulation discharge doesn't normally last this long and I wanted to check that this is normal? I had another case of thrush last month that seemed to disappear after my last period and a friend suggested maybe its just clearing it all out - is that a possibility?
My mum thinks its my change in hormones since I've only had these changes (most of them positive) since I moved out. I just want to understand why!
I hope someone can help! :-)

To have such bad periods one min an then not seems odd to me.
Is there any chance you could be pregnant?
Do you think you were very stressed living at home?
(As stress can cause problems with menstral cycle)
An now you are living in your own place you are a lot happier.
an your periods are settling down.
Have you ever been investigated on why your periods were so bad?
May be you need to talk to a doctor about the sudden change.
I might be wrong but age 22 is not an age id say was a hormone changing age.

No, I've tried pregnancy tests - negative. But for the last 8 months everything has been easy with good and regular periods. I haven't had sex in 3 weeks and my partner is very cautious about these matters and always checks thoroughly.
I had a lot of trouble in my teenage years and was not very happy at home - so yes I am a lot less stressed living here even though moving out was the one thing I was the most scared of, its the one thing thats helped me more than anything else in my life.
My mum always suffered very badly with her periods and so did her sister so we always assumed that it was just something that I had to put up with. I did go to the doctor a year ago or so and he suggested for me to go on the pill but at the time I was a smoker and a bit overweight and so he didn't let me (I didn't really want to anyway since I am so forgetful). I didn't really help myself when I was living with my mum - I had terrible eating habits, (none of it was healthy) very lazy, really lacked confidence and generally hated who I was. I was a bit of an emotional wreck and was on anti-depressants for a while.
Since I moved I took control back over my life! Sorted out my diet and lifestyle a lot.... so much so, I feel I could write a book on the subject!
As for the suddent change - it wasn't like it was terrible one day and fine the next - it was over a period of time as I grew more settled in the house., which was quite quickly really since I was away from all the things that made me so miserable.
This is why I considered it to be a hormonal thing since so much, (mentally and emotionally) has happened recently, for the better - definitely. I'm just trying to understand and make sure that this isn't completely abnormal or if its something I should worry about.

I think you have snswered some of your own questions an worries.
You have taken control of your life and things are settling down.
Well done.
Iv got some hormone problems. Iv been the doctors an had scans. I know what causes mine.
But because it was stressing me out so much, it made it worse. I was going round in circles.
Menstral probs.... getting stressed.... menstral got worse.
So you could of been like your mum, but because you were stressed out it made it wores.
The discharge could be a few things. The end of everything settling down.
Could be a bit of an infection. But you have no other syptoms.
Or it may be the start of something else.
Its a bit hard to say.
If you have problems with your overies you can get a discharge.
I have cysts on mine. PCOS. That causes brownish discharge. I get it usally before an after my period.
I sometimes get it during sex too.
If it carries on, id go an see your doctor.
If you have cycts (they are very common) an you want children you may have to have medication.

Thank you so much CaroleL!
It was all gone by yesterday morning so I'm no longer worried but I will get my ovaries checked out just incase since I do want to have children in the future :-)
I do suffer from stress and I never seem to handle it very well - and I just realised this has all happened during an incredible stressful week at work (which is not normally stressful)
Thank you for taking the time to read/reply to me.
Its very much appreciated :-)
