Hey there.. I just got circumcised today so am not rele in a position to describe the pain as most of the people that commented on this before.. The only bit that hurts atm is the head which is hyper sensitive. hurt is the wrong word.. annoying pains!
I got prescribed paracetamol and another pain killer which was slightly stronger aswell as some E45 cream. Do you reckon il need any of the other stuff like the drugs and spray ppl were talking about.?
I too had phimosis and i think it was actually pinhole phimosis and so the only option was circumcision.. I have to say that circumcision was a last resort option and I had hoped there would be another way to deal with the problem but hey ho, its done now.
I'm 19 and at university, have a gf now which took my ages to explain my problem to her cos it was so embarrassing but shes being rele helpful. The doctors were equally as helpful.
As was discussed earlier, the doctor who did the circumcision didnt ask me any questions about tightness or watever, but am yet to see the full results as I have literally just been cut.. When I took my first piss i nearly died and felt rele dizzy. havnt taken my 2nd yet but im sure it will soon be upon me, the 1st one was hopefully the ice breaker. I was told to leave the dressing on (blue bandage) for 24hrs and then have a shower and if it falls off, good, dont try to pull it off!
I realise that everyone's operation is different and so every recovery process will be different, I just wish it was as easy as skin cut off, then return to normal life straight away which is apparently what happens if ur circumcised at birth.
I found a number of blogs were very informative and kind of helped me be at ease..

I doubt that it's any less painful for a baby, they just can't tell you about it :-S
The hypersensitivity will go away. I can't comment on the pain from the circumcision incision because I am still intact. However I did desensitize my glans because I wanted to. I did it by baring it and touching, caressing, rubbing it a lot. Of course I had the luxury of putting it back inside it's natural cover between those sessions. Maybe you can find something to cover it with some of the time to get some relief from the constant contact. Maybe a condom. If there is still too much feeling through the condom you might try wrapping toilet paper on it then put the condom over that. After the cut is healed so it doesn't hurt to get an erection, your gf might like to help you with the touching for desensitization. For me it always feels much better when a girl touches it than when I do.
I don't know why it should hurt to pee. Is urine getting on the cut? That would do it. Where does it hurt? I don't know of any reason for them to have inserted something in your urethra that might irritate it. Did it hurt inside? I've also heard about some sadistic doctors slitting the opening to widen it when doing a circumcision.

Maybe I am one lucky guy because I never had any type of pain after this procedure. I was reading a lot about this what can I expect when we are talking about this, are there any common circumcision complications and I was really scared, but I needed to do that. After I did it, I remember that I woke up with this fear and...nothing. Just a couple seconds of some pain, if I can call it like this. At the beginning, I believed that this is because of the antibiotics, but not. I am not sure am I pain tolerant or my doc did a really good job. Is that normal? I did this procedure 10 days ago and I feel like I can play football now...

4 days in now. peeing no longer hurts and i took the dressing off in the shower, albeit it took about an hour to peel it off. need to clean the head now as its stil quite bloody. im wearing tightish boxers so as to keep everything in place and wrap a cotton pad around it so as not to feel much annoying sensitivity pain. When i take the cotton thing off, it always stuck to the head and so have to peel it off which makes the head bleed a bit more. In consequence im not eating or drinking much so i dont have to go to the toilet very often. Hopefully cleaning the head in the shower will make this better.

Hi I got a circumcision Thursday 14th October 2010, I am finding the sensitivity bit real hard too, didn?t seem to get much help from the people at the hospital only to just leave it open once bandage falls off, It didn?t fall off so I soaked it in salt water to get dressing off, Dried it with a hair dryer on a low setting, then got a sterile pad smudged it with Vaseline then taped it back on. They said don?t cover it but the pain on the head was too much without a protection. The other thing is just under the head where it stiches upward seems like a big lump looks like someone with a big double chin; could this just be swelling as I only had it done 3 days ago. I really don?t know what to and what not to use or do Doctors here in UK where I live don?t seem to be much help, they just say use nothing and leave it open, which I really can?t do yet as its far to sensitive. i got cut a week ago now and the sensitvity hasnt rele changed much.. however, i have been informed that this will start to go away as new skin layers start to grow from week 2 and will start to flake so dont be alarmed. iv stayed in bed al week and have hardly eaten at all as that would result in needing the toilet and having to take the bandage off.. make sure to soak the bandage off each time to prevent peeling the skin off which is wat i did first 5 days as i didnt rele think.. so thats prob slowed me down a bit.. also apparently wen u have a bath, try to touch the head a lot more under water as the warm water confuses the nerves or something so its easier..

Thanks Dave I done the same I changer the dressing daily but hospital told me to leave it off after 1st day, I couldn stand it without the dressing. i soak it in a bowl of warm salt water and finnish drying it with a hair dryer on low setting. do you have a big lump under the head where most of the skin is connecteed? thanks cov49
