I have had pain in the hips and thighs for going on 5 years. I have had two ultra-sounds one was normal and the other showed minimal bursitis. My questions is: is ultra sound effective in diagnosing bursitis. As mentioned I have had mixed results, the first ultra-sound I had no pain on the day and it came back normal, the second I had slight discomfort and the results showed minimal bursitis.
My specialist has advised me that bursitis should be evident in all ultra-sounds therefore she believes I do not suffer from bursitis, she says she can give me a dignosis.
Is it possible the bursa is not always inflamed therefore will not always show up on an ultra-sound.
I have had a cortesione injection which has given some relief, but I am desperate for an accurate diagnosis
