I had a my right hip replaced about 15 months ago. Because I am in pretty good shape, my surgeon elected to do my surgery anteriorly which allowed me to resume normal activities quicker. Everything was fine until a few months ago when I began experiencing sharp pain in my right thigh and knee area. when I was walking. Someone told me it was my prosthetic device firmly adhering to the bone in my femur and the pain was normal. Does this sound right? If not, is there anybody who can tell me why I have these bouts with pain?

I think you are having bursitis in your thigh and knee. I had both hips replaced 10 years ago and have had 2 bouts of bursitis since then. I could barely walk, but my surgeon gave me a steroid shot and several weeks of therapy. It has been 1 1/2 years since my last attack.
