What can you tell me about hand geometry? I found out recently that two dimensional images of the palm system and sides of the hand have been used in various scenarios. I read somewhere that it is used for the known traveler programs, such as the Transportation Security Administration’s Registered Passenger Program, for streamlining airport security procedures for certain frequent travelers. Interesting don’t you think?

I know about hand geometry program which uses optical camera to capture two orthogonal two-dimensional images of the sides of the hand and the palm. They measure finger width, height and length, distance between the joints and knuckle shapes. The system relies on geometry and do not have fingerprints or palm prints. These systems are commonly used to access control facilities or controlled areas. On the airports, INPASS program is used.
