Hi, I have some habits I would like to get rid of, but it’s not that easy. I always need to check all the things twice or three times, like I don’t believe my own eyes. Am I being paranoid, or do I have OCD?

Hi, I couple of years ago, my friend who is a psychologist, told me that I am paranoid. All these years, I’ve been reading books about paranoia, and thinking that I suffer from it, until I went to a psychiatrist last month. After few sessions, he diagnosed me with OCD. I was very confused, and he explained me that these mistakes are often made, because paranoia and OCD are similar diseases, and they are easily mixed up. Now it makes more sense. I have exactly the same symptoms like the other people with OCD and like you. I always have to check some things over and over again, like I’m not shore if I saw well. I wash my hands fifty times a day, when I touch anything that other people were using. I know that I’m exaggerating, but it’s stronger than me. I see germs and dirt everywhere, and I can’t continue doing something until I wash my hands.
