If you're a father of a young son who comes into your bedroom in the night or early in the morning needing something, are you comfortable simply throwing the covers back and letting him see you get out of bed nude? If so, even with morning wood? I've thought nothing of this, but now that my son is nearing 5 years old, am wondering if/when it should stop. My wife thinks it's just a "guy" thing and only a big deal if I make it one. I want him to grow up with a healthy attitude toward his own body and to know that grown men sleep nude and get erections, but I'm also looking for advice from other dads.

I see nothing wrong with him being aware that you sleep nude, and if you have an erection I'd make no attempt to hide it. If he asks questions just respond openly and honestly, as I'm sure you always do. Once out of bed you can pull on some shorts or sweats and move about the house

I think this is perfectly fine. It’s not like you’re being an exhibitionist - you just happen to be wearing nothing at that moment and need to get out of bed. IMO, what would be awkward is suddenly telling him to look away, because it would create the impression that innocent nakedness is bad. Plus, it’s good for kids to understand what their bodies will look like as adults.
