My son is 15 and had his total colectomy almost 3 years ago due to FAP.  His surgery went well, although he had an abscess after the initial surgery.  He does suffer from some abdominal pain from time to time but is willing to deal with it in order to continue eating his favorite foods :).  This past Friday he woke with pain, this is uncommon unless induced by certain foods.  He said the pain came in waves.  At first pain was always there with more sever pain coming in waves.  As the day progressed the constant pain increased as well as the wave pain.  He tried to release the pain through BM but was unsuccessful in producing anything, after vomiting started we took him to the ER.  We were told he had a partial small bowel obstruction based on the the finding on his CT scan.  With in a couple hours of his last vomit he was doing considerably better and we transfered him to the hospital where his original surgery had taken place to feel a little more comfortable.  Once at this hospital he suffered very little pain, the following day he suffered very little or no pain and by day 3 we were discharged with him consuming a full diet again.  Once home however, the waves started again.  Not in the same way as the first though.  He has had about 15 waves in the last 6 hours and the pain scale has been anywhere between a 3 to 7.  The dull constant pain may stay for a half hour, be gone for an hour and then return again for 45 minutes.  There is no rhyme or reason to the waves. Could this be a side effect from the PSBO? Or something new?  Possibly soreness from the obstruction?  If any one has any advice please let us know, it would be greatly appreciated!!  Thanks!
