7 months ago I was perscribed torpical steroid cream and I made the mistake of masterbaiting with it proabaly around 9 times. My penis is develuping scars on it's head and every time I get an erretcion I am in pain. the lower head is develping scar circles around the rim and I'm deeply depressed about this. I've seen a dermatolgist as well as a urologist but the dermatolgist determined nothing and the urlogist didn't told me it was something he hasn't come across and then refered me to a Neurourologist who I will be going to soon. Every time I masterbaid it gets worse.. my upper penis stings when it gets hot and it feels dry whe erect.
My life has been complete hell over this.. I just relized what might have been the cause of it several days ago and now I'm in a deep depression..
Will this alter my life.. can it be fized in any way??
Please help

The same thing happened to me ..although i didnt use it to masterbate. Everytime i get an erection the skin on the penis head seems to get little sores form the skin breaking and the penis head gets really red. The glands have lost their smoth silky appearance and i now have little scars developing as well. I was originally prescribed the cream to treat thrush. The doctor didnt say anything about these side effects.

hi, what type of steriod cream did you both use as i was also prescribed it for thrush although it hasnt fully cleared an was thinking of increasing the Steroid % in the cream, although now it doesnt seem to be a good idea.
I have been to the urologist and he thought everything was ok but the tip is still red and sore.
Any ideas?

Hi guys,
Did anyone have any success with finding a cure for the this problem? I have been suffering with this for many years and still cannot find anyone who can help me. The only thing I have used to keep the penis moist is wheatgrass cream. This does not cure it but stops it from getting worse. Dr Wheatgrass is the product name.
If anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to hear them.

Hi guys,
I've used the steroid cream on my arms as i had a rash like eczema flair up under stress. Anyway i got the same skin thinning. I'm not sure if the lost layers can be restored but my medication was coupled with an emollient called Double base (google it). It has helped that dry thin breaking skin. I think if you use that from now in it's very good. things like e45 never work on my skin. The skin on the penis is very sensitive to gels and ointments so I can imagine the severity of your issue. I'm assuming the OP told the dermatologist the cause? has your doctor not got an answer for counteracting steroid cream?

I think you you might be interested in Dr Rapaport's study on steroid cream addiction.
If you have used it for a while, the withdrawal is painful and takes a while, but the end result is total cure.
My wife is in the process of steroid cream withdrawal after 30 years of use. Everything Dr Rapaport says in the article is correct so far.
Good luck.

Steroid cream is not an effective treatment for thrush - it may be effective in treating some of the damage caused by a severe case, but usually things will repair themselves. The usual treatment for thrush in a male would be a topical fungicide cream, such as Clotrimazole.
Now then, back to the main topic - it sounds possible that the condition you mentioned could be something called Lichen Scerosus, which is a non-contagious auto-immune condition similar to eczema or psoriasis - quite rare in males. No-one has mentioned anything about the foreskin becoming tight, this is also a common symptom but of course only in uncircumcised men. Ironically the right treatment for this could involve the use of topical steroid cream, but it has to be the right one, and not self prescribed!
Maybe worth mentioning this to your physician

I used a 1% steroid cream on my penis for a period of 2 weeks...liberally, twice a day. It is a mild-moderate steroid cream and I can tell you that even IT caused my shaft to discolor to a more lighter/pinkish color, it made it shinier, thinner and more sensitive.
I stopped using it 3 weeks ago and I am STILL waiting for my shaft to return to normal.
My dermatologist said I could use it up to 4 weeks. I am very annoyed he did not make me aware of the possible side effects.
Good luck!

You guys steroid creams are not meant to be used over long periods of time. They can actually make things worse if you do. NO, the steroid cream wont shrink your penis, it is not the same as steriods bodybuilders use, its all in your head.
If you used the steriod cream and it didnt work, try this:
Stop using the steroid cream if youve been using it more than 1/2 months.
Moisturise with vaseline or cetapil lotion.
Don't masturbate for a while until your penis heals. (very important)
Change your soap to something more gentle like cetapil they sell it in nearly ever chemist.
Don't shower more than 15 minutes a day, don't make the water too hot.
Try not to stress as this can be triggering your echzema, do something to take your mind of it, ie read a book, watch a movie..
Last but not least, try your hardest to to scratch it!!!
Hope this helps you guys.

Didn't you read the instructions that come with the creme !?
On all steroids I've seen it clearly says "Don't apply on glans"!The only possible way it could heal is if you stop masturbating for atleast 3 weeks and apply some moisturisers (and I don't mean Vichy, Garnier or sh*t like that. Get natural oils like olive/grapeseed oil or something water based). Steroids thin the skin and prevent natural healing process.. So it will take a while.
The most important thing is to STOP MASTURBATING ! postpone till healed...

The steroid cream being prescribed by doctors for this is usually lotrisone, a combination of Betamethasone and clotrimazole. I was told it was ok to use for a fungal infection and it has caused the same thing everyone here is complaining of. Constant redness, burning, especially if any friction is applied. I've read that it can take 1-3 years to heal. Its really depressing. I wish doctors would realize what they are doing to people. It sucks bad.

Man I wish I had seen this post before I used the steroid my doctor prescribed. I applied it to my glans for a few weeks and its been hell for the last 6 months. I went back to the doctor and he could care less, said I needed to go to a psychologist because he thinks its all in my head. Yeah having a penis that is bright red and feels like its on fire is all in my head. Some doctors should quit practicing medicine and go flip burgers and stay out of people's lives. I don't trust doctors anymore. They ruin people lives more than the help. From what I have seen the are pretty much all incredibly ignorant when it comes to topical steroid and the side effects. Steroids have literally changed my life for the worse.
