while coughing a felt something in my sternum crackle, possibly snap. Since then it hurts to swallow saliva, water, or even noodles. please help as the pain and burning goes from front to back and when swallowing.

Hi this sounds like you have fractured your sternum!!!! :-( That is so PAINFUL!!!! You need to have it xrayed right away. I know there isn't much they can do for it - unfortunately!!! :'( Because you are constantly moving and breathing. They could give you pain medication for it. What does worry me is you being in pain to swallow!!!!! I am just worried that you might have a spur or a chip floating around!!!So get that checked ASAP. And please let me know how you are doing OK? Yes, while coughing you can cause your sternum to snap and if you are having trouble swallowing then it seems that the only solution to your issue is to get to a doctor as soon as you can to make sure that they can do something for you to alleviate your symptoms. It sounds quite painful so I hope you get help soon. Please keep us posted!
