I am on day 9 now of my tonsilectomy and finally turned the corner. Thanks to all of you for sharing your experiences as I could not believe that it was possible to feel this much pain. And then felt there was hope after reading the post op remarks.
I will say though that to those going to have the surgery... just hang in there - it is hard to comprehend pain becoming so bad after a bearable first 4 days... this is normal!!
And one thing I found surprising (as did others I spoke to)... Bananas stung the throat like nothing I had tried before - does anyone know the reason for this?
I also found heat packs helped with my throat and earache, and olive oil and lavendar rubbed on the outside of the neck was very soothing.
I also sprayed colloidal silver into the throat to avoid all infections and so far have had a fantastic healing.
I am not sure of the rest of you - but I developed a post nasal drip - that was soothed by herbal losenges.
Hope that some of this was of help
