my printer wasn't printing in color, but was fine with black. our IT guy told me to check the ink cartridges, as some of them were "bad", dried out, old. So I pulled the color cartridge, shook it and actually got the color flowing. I put it back in, the printer shot out a test page that was just fine. I typed the following in Word:

Red
Yellow
Blue

and tried to print it. Nothing. Blank page.

Not sure where to go to fix it. any ideas for me?

Maybe the nozzles are dirty. Does your printer have a self cleaning feature?

doesn't answer why the test page printed in color, but not the Word document.

Do you have the printer setup in Word for 'grayscales' and not color?
Check that.

Try printing out a small image with colour in it.

Not sure why Word wouldn't print in colour and the test page did. Not unless there's some setting in the Print Properties that's set to Greyscale or B/W.

Have you checked the print properties?
I believe I have, because I had changed them to black and white when the color stopped. I just put it back after I got the ink flowing from the cartridge.

The problem was: I didn't have the drivers for this particular printer. although, I must have had them at one point because I didn't have this problem until the end of the school year last spring. The "computer" teacher went searching for ink cartridges and screwed up everyone's printers. He must have deleted my drivers for this printer. IT guy downloaded the drivers, and it works fine. thanks for your help in searching for the problem though.
