Hello, I am a woman who is 42 years old. I have a problem which is a strange prolonged bloating. I went to a doctor and he told me that I should visit gynecologist first. I will go tomorrow and I am asking for your honest opinion. What kind of tests may be done in this condition? Is there anything I should know except this? Thank you all for your time.

Hi there, there are indeed many tests which may be done. I will count some of them. Barium enema, stool tests, CT scan, and some blood tests are examples for those tests. There are certainly more but this is not my line of work, so cut me some slack. There are couples of causes for condition, such as malabsorption syndromes, celiac disease, or adhesions. If some of the tests turn positive, you will know where you are standing, but if those are negative you may have to consider a surgery in order to evaluate your symptoms. But all of this is only my opinion without knowing your symptoms. Therefore my advice for you is to consult a doctor.
