Hello,

after I (hopefully) successfully recovered from my bladder cancer and I now have finally some hope that my life will be far far longer than the doctors predicted just a few months ago, I’m considering having InterStim device for bowel incontinence implanted. From all the info I’ve read, few months after the device is implanted most people continue to live their lives as normally as they can, but what worries me is what will happen in case that my cancer returns? Do they need to take the device out during the cancer treatment? I’ve talked about this with my doctor and she assures me that chances for something like this happening are not at all high, but besides post-op and programming pains, could this be another contraindication for InterStim for bowel incontinence?
