I'm 44 years old and used to have that same feeling about four years ago. Along with alot of other symptoms, my doctor performed some blood test and diagnosed me with hyperthyroidism (underactive thyroid). I was put on synthroid and the feeling went away. Although I don't get this feeling anymore, I do get a lump in the throat, and a sensation that something is stuck in my throat in the middle region of my chest. Maybe you should have your thyroid funtion tested.

I too have had the same experience. I thought I had maybe pulled a muscle as I knew I had thyroid problems. But, I'm not very steady with medications. Mine also resulting from thyroid issues. If I forget to take my medication, I'm soon reminded. The lump in your throat, well I had that same issue. There was an ultrasound of my throat that revealed a groiter. They'll grow without proper medication treating them, such as synthoid or levothyroxine. If they become too uncomfortable surgery is required, but unless its of abnormal size, surgeons prefer not to operate on them.
