yes I have this same feeling.. And I have bladder infections all the time.I'm on my 3rd trip to hospital..

I had the monarc sling done in nov.2011 and i have a bladder infection almost all the time and have been on all kinds of meds including IV meds over 3 days. Im on meds right now for one and its been 6 days and i still feel like i have a bladder infection. Its making me tired and im not sure if its from infection or from just sick of being sick! I always have pressure and inorder to empty my bladder i have to push it out. I still have pain during sex too if the angle is offsomedays worse then others. I hate living like this.

Everyday is so hard, we can't live this way anymore, something has to be done, Please does anyone know a specialist URO in Oregon that can remove the sling, with out taking everything with it. My life is all most over, it no one can help, why go from wetting our under garments, to no longer being able to have sex with our husbands, do walk normal, things we used to do all the time, now I can hardly stand. or even sit . To go to the store and shop, can't do it anymore, how can they put something in that they ALL don't want to remove?????????God help us all. Go see this doctor, go see that doctor, do this test, no lets try this tests, here some pain meds. I don't think life is worth all of this, it has taken everything I love away.
Please tell everyone and tell them to tell everyone they know.
Their must be a doctor out there somewhere to help us, and give us our life back, I would give anything to no have done this surgery.

I have been having exactly the same problem, I am my wits end as to know what to do or where to go.

My mother had sling surgery to correct her dropped bladder.  After time, she started having UTI's.  The UTI's became more frequent and it became a revolving door of UTI, trip to ER, hospitalization, nursing home for rehab, return home and then get another UTI.  She was also on an endless cycle of antibiotics.  She eventually lost weight, her body became weaker from continually dealing with infection, and she had trouble breathing. 

With all the hospitalizations and endless trail of visiting nurses, the medical professionals would brush this off with comments like:  "It's common for elderly women to have UTI's."  "She needs to wipe from front to back."  "She should change her Depends more frequently."  The doctors at the local hospital (where she had the surgery) never gave her an internal exam or questioned her surgery.  We even received calls from the hospital telling us that she's been hospitalized too many days and was exhausting that benefit.  [Wouldn't that be a red flag?]  During the last trip to that hospital, they forced her onto Hospice because of the number of hospitalizations.

At wits end (and despite being on Hospice) I took her to a urogynecologist at a leading medical center -- who listened to her, had her void, and then did an internal exam.  He said the sling had contracted and was preventing her from completely voiding all her urine and that was causing her infections.  Her personal hygiene was fine, her sling was not.  She knew something was "wrong" and was so relieved to get an answer.  The plan was to follow her PCP plan to get over the infection and then have the urogynecologist take care of the sling.

Unfortunately, by this time the ongoing infections had taken a toll on her body (sepsis) and this was affecting her respiratory system.  About a week or so later her condition worsened and we took her to the ER -- this time back to the leading medical center.  At this point she was too weak and passed away after 2 days in the ICU.  Cause of death was UTI infection.

I cannot begin to describe what my mother endured during those years -- the hardship and suffering that I, her grand-daughters, and elderly husband endured while caring for her (seemingly endless trips to ER, hospital visits, dealing with doctors/nurses, loss of sleep, trying to find ways to make her comfortable, daily care, administering meds, trying to manage her healthcare) -- and the pain of watching her slowly lose her battle to stay alive.

Have I watched too many medical tv shows where doctors actually try to find the cause of a problem?  When a woman (or man) gets to a certain age, do some doctors and hospitals "write them off"?  Are drug companies offering such great incentives that doctors/hospitals  would resort to meds instead of doing a little research?  Do hospitals/doctors read about FDA recalls in the news?

I had the sling surgery done about 4 years. I could tell something was wrong right away. Could not go to the bathroom without really bearing down, and felt like I was not emptying. I called my Dr. within 2 days of surgery, and he took me back in and loosened it. -Done on an outpatient basis. I have been lucky, I guess. No problems since.

hello, I had a partial hysterectomcy at 28, and by 30 i had to have both overies out.at the age of 32, i had to a my bladder lifted. when they had left my one ovary in, it was on the wall of the vagina, and my endometriosis had grown over it..painfull. so i had my bladder lfted, sex was painful before the surgery, but is still painfull to this day..
My bladder is becoming worse agian, i was shopping and all of a sudden, i felt i had to go, well it was awful, i was trying to get to the bathroom, but the urine starting pouring out, gushing all the way to the bathroom,,people were staring at me, i just wanted to cry. i got to the bathroom, and it still was pouring out.when this happenes to me, i cannot control it,or stop it.. im goiing to see my family doctor and ask him to refer me back to the uroligist.. i understand what you are all going through, it is not fun, and awful to live with

Sandy, I just had this surgery 7-1/2 weeks ago and am currently suffering from my second bladder infection and need to go back to the Dr. on Monday. I see that you posted this over a year ago, but was wondering if things ever get better. What there a solution for you?

Hi Sandy. I had sling surgery about 7-1/2 weeks ago. Before this surgery I think I have had maybe 1 or 2 UTI in my life. I am now experiencing my second bladder infection in 7 weeks! It is horrible! I know you posted this over a year ago, but I was wondering how things turned out. Did the Dr.s find out why you were having reccuring infections? Did you find a cure? I think I would rather wear a pad than suffer these infections.

I had the bladder sling done in January since then I've had two UTI infections Im wanting to know is it possible to have the sling removed I'm tired of infections already

Hi Bonlaw, i am just doing some research cuz I too am experiencing bladder infections as i just had my surgery this past Sept. I just wanted to comment on your constipation. You should buy from the health food store syliem husk (wrong spelling I think) I use one teaspoon everyday in my cereal or on my salad and than drink lots of water, this tends to help with my bowels, i have been using it for years. Hope this is helpful.

Go to ucla dr raz or dr rodriguez to have the mesh removed.

Be very careful and do your research. I had a sling put in in 2005. One year later had to have it removed because it eroded through the vaginal wall. Had another one put in when I had my hysterectomy about 4 years later and developed a pelvic abcess and they had to cut me from one side to the other to clean it up. Now 3 years after that surgery I am having burning and pressure when I urinate.I feel like it will never end. Just wish I hadn't had this done to begin with.

I had a bladder mesh surgury in 2009 due to incontenence, now i'm suffering with re-accuring bladder and vaginal infections, abdomenal pain, and painful intercourse, the dr's have diog. me with interstitial cystitis. I will have to be on medication for the rest of my life to prevent flare ups. The meds help the abdominal pain but not the painful intercourse. I strongly believe the bladder mesh is causing the problems being I didnt have them prior to the surgury. The dr's think otherwise of course. I am now seeking consultation.

Hi Elli, Did you have your Ovaies taken out? I have had the same issues since I had a bladder lifter and partial hysterectomy. I have had horrible hot flashes and they say my estrogen is completely fine and my hormones are normal. I've tried many things for the hot flashes. Many herbs, actupunctures, bio-identical hormones, and nothing has helped. I wonder if it's the mesh causing these hot flashes, being a foreign object in my body. Has anything helped y our hot flashes?
