I went from having no sex to having sex at least once a day. I started having the burning feeling down there too. Was treated for yeast infection (diflucan, terconzole cream) on numerous occasions. Finally got referred to a specialist. She told me when we get older and just some women in general, get dry down there and don't produce enough lubricant ourselves. She told me to use, now don't laugh, Crisco shortening. She said rub a small amount around down there numerous times a day. Pat after you pee don't rub and re apply after peeing. Also at night when you go to bed insert a small amount the size of a dime up inside there. She said it sometimes takes a month to work. Well believe it or not it does work. I was fanatical about applying it and around the 4th week it started not hurting and burning anymore. It is amazing. She also said not to use soap with perfume, get unscented laundry detergent for washing undies and wear cotton undies. I am telling everyone I know about this. She said Crisco (I use Aldis brand) is great for dry skin in general..all natural no fragrance, dyes or that kind of stuff. I now use it on my feet too! Hope this helps.

I get a little red and swollen sometimes but I think it's just due to having rough sex.

I had the same symptoms for months. I was tested for STDs, HIV, and Diabetes; all of which came back negative and I was told I had a yeast infection. I was treated for that. Symptoms never went away. I went to 4 OB/GYNs and 2 dermatologists. I was told I had a yeast infection, a bacterial infection, a UTI and an allergic reaction to something. I was given anitfungal and cortisone creams, the antibiotic Cipro 6 times for the bacteria and Diflucan to treat the yeast infection that would come from taking the antibiotic, Bactrim and Macrobid (antibiotics) for UTI, Amoxicillin, Metronidazole, and another antiobiotic. After all of that, the symptoms never went away. After seeing yet another OB/GYN after symptoms became worse, itchy irritated swollen labia and clitoris with a very unnatural amount of discharge; this doctor stated because nothing appeared on my cultures and negative results from yet another STD panel including Herpes and HIV testing, that it was normal. At this point I'm well over a year into these symptoms and this doctor has told me that the discharge I was having that would soak my underwear was normal and the itchy irritated swollen labia and clit was in relaltion to using the wrong soap - to stop using soap, just use Cetaphil and some days no soap, and make another appointment if the symptoms became worse. Well it got worse; I began to have what felt like cuts in my labia creases and the clitoral hood, as well as the discharge became frothy, milky, mucousy - at times white, a little yellowish, almost green snought appearance - stretchy or thin - clumpy - sometimes with an odor, sometimes not - the itchiness was unrealistic - and at this point the symptoms migrated to the anal area. She finally said it was an abnormal amount of discharge but all my test were negative for any STDs, HIV, yeast, or Diabetes - however there was nothing else she could do; she just didn't know what it was. I noticed that the discharge was secreting more right before the need to urinate. So I went to see an Urologist as my final attempt at finding what this was before seeing an Infectious Disease doctor. The Urologist, Dr. Chariamonte, could not believe the amount of doctors I had seen who couldn't come to a resolution to this problem or had overlooked the problem because it didn't show up on any of the test or cultures. He would not allow me to leave until he could make an appointment with another doctor for a second opinion before even telling me what this thing was. The next day I saw the OB/GYN, Dr. Nettey, Dr. Chariamonte insisted that I see. I told Dr. Nettey they had given me STD testing I was negative for Trichomonas, Gonorrhea, Chlymadia, Bacterial Vaginosis, etc. etc. He chuckled and said is that what they told you. He preceeded to examine me and he didn't have to even touch me to see the amount of discharge and at this point my labia, clitoris, and vulva was now raw and beefy in appearance. He said he agreed with the Urologist at what it looked like but took a culture to verify what it was. He looked at the culture in the office, he refused to send it out so that it would not be missed or wrongly diagnosed. Ladies, it turns out I had Trichomonas with a small amount of yeast and an abnormal amount of white blood cells - however, the culprit was Trichomonas. When I apparently first contracted it, I had no symptoms. Over time it was continuously diagnosed as a yeast infection or just a UTI or bacterial infection. So it went untreated for over a year before a doctor finally detected it. How so many labs missed it on any of my cultures. Though I had been given Metronidazole (most common treatment for Trichomonas) in the past - it was told to stop because they didn't detect Trichomonas that it was a bacteria. I was given Tindamax (Tinidazole - another common but more effective treatment for Trichomonas) 500 mg, 2 tablets taking together once a day for 5 days; Doxcycline (for the white cell increase) 100 mg, 2 times per day for 7 days; Diflucan 150 mg, 1 tablet immediately and 1 tablet 7 days later to treat the small amount of yeast plus the yeast that would come from taking the antibiotics, and Clotrimazole/Betamethasone Diproprionate cream for the itching and irritation applied twice a day for 2 weeks. Due to the fact that it had gone untreated for over a year, I had to do this treatment twice to get rid of it. I'm saying all of this to say these 2 things - 1. GET STD/HIV TEST prior to having unprotected and/or protected sex with every partner, as men often do not know they have Trichomonas or don't care to get retested to ensure they've been cured of it and 2. LADIES BE PERSISTENT and AGGRESSIVE WITH THE DOCTORS to help find the source and the cure of your problem. Don't let them just throw medicine at you and stop trying to self treat because now-a-days most of these vaginal problems have the same symptoms - so it is not always a yeast infection because you're red, irritated, itching, swollen and have a little discharge. Doctors just look and say it look like this - how about you test and be sure its what it looks like before treating me. Giving us antibiotics liberally without knowing exactly what they're treating causes our bodies to build an immunity to the antibiotic and we generally get yeast infections from taking antibiotics. So its almost a catch 22. Now it really may just be a yeast infection - but make the doctor test you. Don't go through what I went through being a test rat. After I discovered what it was I looked up Trichomonas - the different symptoms, different treatments, different cases - I thought I was the worst of the worse case - OH HELL NO. The pictures of women with Trichomonas that has gone untreated or misdiagnosed is mind blowing. Dr. Nettey stated he sees Trichomonas go misdiagnosed and untreated very often - mostly mistaken to be something else. I'm not saying you have an STD but not a yeast infection or vice versa, or anything else the doctor may have diagnosed you with. Just be persistent with finding the source and a successful treatment to your problem. Good luck to you.

if you shave down there it is the stubble poking - like in the underarms - ever itched there a day after a shave? same down below, plus the friction - his hair rubbing yours - it pulls the hair but not completely out leaving an opening at the follicle where the bodily fluids sip in and that is why nothing helps to permanently heal it. It is the hair. Shave your arm and wear a sweater for a few days - you'll see all these bumps red and itchy and the arm is a dry body part and no other person's "foreign" body fluids with different pH balance and composition touch it. But poor vagina takes it all! Applying Vaseline or neosporin right before intercourse will minimize the pulling of the hair and shield your "battle field" from excessive acidic fluids, thus, less irritation. And stop shaving around vagina and anus - HE WON"T notice.

Go to the doctor, sounds like you have a sti! Better get it checked out. Chlymadia is easily treated, and very common.....if it remains untreated it can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease and cause infertility. The bumps could be genital herpes stop being silly and go to the doctor!
