I have been having a feeling of 'fullness' and some pain in my cheek area. My dentist told me I have a blocked saliva duct and said he could remove the duct. I wanted to try the drinking more water and eating sour candies before I committed myself, which have done nothing. I mentioned it to my doctor and he put me on a 10 day course of Amoxicillin which also did nothing. What will happen if the dentist removes the duct, it concerns me that if there is no duct there for the saliva to drain through, it will back up into the gland and cause problems for the saliva gland itself.
Also, I am very nervous about the procedure of having the duct removed. Is this a difficult operation and is it normal to have a dentist do such a thing? and what can I expect during the recovery period?
