Had same prob. Doctor no. 1 the c**t thought it was a wart. Freaked me the f**k out. Was up all night over this. Doctor no. 2 told me it was a cyst. She removed it with a LASER. Took less than 10 mins. Easy peasy. Didn't hurt at all. Did a bang up job. Don't pick at it. Go to the doc and have them remove it professionally. Honestly, best cash I've spent in a long while. Good luck gents.

Its about time i say something about this topic and my story, seems to "happen" to a lot a guys and young men with no explainations. Here is what I have discovered so far. However scary it may seem, you must get the proper diagnoses, sometimes through your own research too. I have suffered way to long, 30 years, without knowing what the hell is causing my/our problem. Frequent mystery penile skin "infections" have ruined my personal life for the most part, averaging some kind of cyst infection every 3-6 months since i was 15, now 48. I always thought it was part of my cystic acne problem since 17. I have taken Accutane 4 times in my life, Accutane worked for every part of my body, except my penis. There had to be something else causing cysts on my penis. Through my own research and what the dermotolgists or the internet dont tell you,  there is a difference in these cysts. If you understand how skin functions and the different layers, you will get a better idea of what maybe causing your penile cyst. In simple terms, these are the two main cyst forms, its important to know the difference, they are related, but treatment is different:

sebaceous cyst= the sac next to the hair shaft that produces oil to lube the hair (glogged shaft with dirt is Acne)

this is the only purpose for sebum oil, to lube the hair and outer skin

keratin cyst= formation of the hair shaft itself (includes bulb in dermis layer, hair shaft in dermis/epidermis), protein for hair/nail grow

this "rouge" penile shaft hair forms due to androgen (testosterone) stimulation, as all male body hair grows this way since puberty

The "reasons" dermatologists refuse to excise (also known as a office excision) cyst:

1. They may not know your history of cystic acne, or which type of cyst you have, or if you have been treated for acne in the past

2. They know if you have a keratin cyst, (which constists of liquid keratin, not liquid sebum), the cyst will continue to return unless you remove the cyst "wall" as well as the keratin ball itself

3. Not removing a keratin cyst wall, keeps the patient "coming back" for more treatment, its a money thing

Its very important to know which kind of cyst you may have on your penis, a sebaceous cyst does not have a "wall". The sebum oil can be "squeezed out" like your average pimple and would heal as such, a keratin cyst should never be squeezed, best treatment is excision with wall removal, it will not come back if the wall and keratin ball is removed. The pea sized keratin "ball" (with a hair in it) can be felt just under the skin and moves around (is mobile), a sebaceous cyst (much like a boil) does not move under the skin. The "white puss" for a sebaceous cyst vs keratin cyst are very much the same, of course both white in color. Keratin has a "waxy, semi solid" feel to it, while sebum oil is less solid and more watery.

The major problem with a keratin cyst is if it ruptures under the penile skin, the liquid keratin has "no where to go", it "spills" out on top of the dermis layer (forms a plaque in the epidermis layer), its HELL to remove liquid keratin (i describe it as elmers glue), treatment for a ruptured keratin cyst is topical, corticoid steroids, lactid acid, urea, pet jelly, once healed, a scar will be left that looks like a octopus tentical suction cup (due to the entire epidermis layer of the skin being removed, so goes the plague, so goes the top layer of skin), much like a ulcer crater would look after healing, ulcers cause scarring too.

While everything removed from your body is sent to pathology for testing, I found out that these keratin cysts can be confused with condyloma (G wart) due to similar microscope findings. If you are ever told you have G wart from pathology, question them carefully as they need to open the cyst to see if there is a hair inside. This is exactly what happen to me, misdiagnosed as an STD. I made them redo the sample, they found the hair inside, did HPV testing which came up negative.

I didnt have acne on my penis, I believe I had a androgen (testosterone) implant from the mid 70's to help jump start my puberty, since I was a "late bloomer" and may have not made it through 1st stage puberty without it. This was done without my knowledge as a kid and not sure what age i was. In those days, Endocrinology (hormone doctor) didnt exist, they sent you to Psychology to see "why" a boy isnt growing. The general surgeon (not dermotolgy or urology) that removed the cyst, also found the implant under the cyst in the dermis layer of the skin. He had to cut it out with a scapel.

Now that this implant is out (was planted on the underside of my penis, mid shaft and i assume still releasing androgen stimulating the rouge hairs to grow), i dont foresee anymore problems with developing keratin cysts or any acne in general. I am left with the crator looking scar from the ruptured cyst (using NewGel+E, sil scar treatment for 2 months now, some improvement). Although this was my problem, yours could be different entirely, educate yourself about this problem, seems to be common, if your older, ask your family members if you had pre hormone or any puberty problems. Talk to your PCP. This problem we have, I believe, is a androgen issue.

Hope you get the help you need, i am now finally free from this problem. Hope my story inspires you to do your own research.

the other theory i came up with..... Accutane was labeled the "cure" for cystic acne. I was one of the first patients in 1982 to recieve treatment before the FDA approved the drug. How to mass sell this drug and make money when there where not enough patients with severe cystic acne? Induce androgen production in pre-puberty boys with hormone deficiency. The 70's implant i had may have been the ultimate experiment in selling this "cure" for acne.

1. induce puberty

2. create cystic acne condition (since acne is part of puberty anyway, who would know the difference?)

3. sell patient Accutane through insurance (we all know how disfiguring cystic acne is)

4. with a continual lifetime release of androgen, keeps the patient coming back for more Accutane

5. because it was new, and so was endocrinology, no one would understand androgen stimulates hair growth

6. added bonus money for dermatology, endocrinology, urology, psychology and pharmaceuticals

7. implant in boys penis, patient would never know, stigma attached to STD would cause boy not to seek treatment

8. more bonus for dermatology, endocrinology.. their implants in the penis caused "unkown" infections

9. no one would think to question any doctor because the usual answer is "we dont know what causes cyst, its rare"

10. today, androgen commercialism is all the rage, since Accutane recieved so much bad press over the years

11. androgen sales are now replacing accutane, people are more wise to hormone deficiency than in years past

12. the real secret about accutane and how it works? its anti-androgen

The powers that be have been using humans as their experiments for many years, without some of us knowing. #12 gives it away, when i was on my last isotretinoin a few years ago and before i knew about the T-implant in my penis, while on this last treatment, i developed another site specific penile infection while taking isotretinoin, i was through with 5 months but doctor wanted another month which he stopped because of the infection.

conclusion: while the implant was releasing androgen, the isotretinoin tried to stop that release (anti-androgen), causing a infection/reaction at the site of the implant, isotretinoin wins out as it was more powerful than the old implant. Since i dont have any info on this implant, obviously meant to be permanent (T-implants today are pellets and disolvable) just giving my opinion, my research and my experience, however well isotretinoin works, i still have research to do.

I found the key... 100% aloe Vera body gel, similar to what you would use for a sunburn, calms the skin and recycles the bacteria back into the body. If it is very sore, attempt to pop it first,, then use aloe Vera in combination with polysporin or a similar anti biotic ointment, being careful to wash your hands and change your loose underwear regularly, will be gone in 5 days.

I had the same issue, a half pea sized sebaceous cyst on the underside of my penile shaft. At first it started as a small white pimple thing. Eventually as I kept popping it, the cyst would fill back up and get bigger. I have had it since I was 15. I am now 17 and I am still a virgin. Preparing for future sex, I didn't want a girl to think I have an std. I decided to do a self extraction. This is how I did it: I used rubbing alcohol, sterilized toenail clippers, gauze, band aids, neosporin, and an ice cube. First I used the ice cube to numb the cyst and the surrounding foreskin. I then used rubbing alcohol to clean the cyst and surrounding area before clipping it off. I then made sure I had the whole cyst inside the nail clippers and I clipped it off. Of course it didn't hurt when I broke the first couple layers of skin, but I felt it hurt for a second when I got halfway through. Once I got the sucker out, it quickly filled with blood. I used the gauze and applied pressure for 15 minutes. I checked to see how it was. It was still bleeding pretty badly. I replaced the gauze and bandaged it up. I left it alone for 12 hours and then replaced the gauze. This time before bandaging it back up I used the neosporin to prevent infection. Overnight I let it be bandaged up. In the morning I replaced it again and the bleeding had stopped. It has been roughly 30 hours since the removal and I hope this was a permanent solution. I will update you guys when it heals if it worked. I'm not regretting this because if this works and doesn't scar too badly, I will have restored a lot of lost confidence. I can always tell the girl it is a birthmark hah

I am replying from my post a week ago. It has been one week since I removed the cyst. And let me tell you, I do not regret it. It did not hurt after I got it off. I just bandaged it up and didn't masturbate for 5 days. Waited 2 days to take a shower and let it scab up. 3 days after the removal, I took off the band aids and let it be on its own. It is almost fully healed. Just small scarring, which I'm hoping should fade over time. But seriously would you rater have a nasty peas sized lump on your penis, or a light scar? I hope this is a permanent solution to the problem and it doesn't come back. But that is how I'm doing so far

I took prescription antibiotics (doxycycline and keflex) for moderate to severe acne (cystic) on my face and back and it caused these to go away, too.

guys just make sure after popping your lump that you wash your hands because lets just say its a HPV virus it's very contagious through touch you don't want to spread it on other areas or two other people

I had a giant cyst on my shaft when I was around 14. It was quite painful am I was too embarrassed to see a doctor, I took a pin to it and "popped" it. I experienced immediate relief, however to this day (10 years later) I have a two very small bumps and a scar where the cyst once was (which doesn't really bother me). If I had seen a doctor perhaps their would have been another way that did not leave a scar.

I am 24yrs old, have had this thing on the underside of my shaft ever since I can remember (must be over 15yrs). Infact, I had no idea it was a cyst! I thought It might of been a small bit of left over skin from when I was cut! When I was younger, I tried to pop it with no luck. I was able to move it around freely underneath my skin. The other night I was erect and I felt it and decided to just take a look at it. I noticed I was able to squeeze a small thin bit of puss out. I pressed a bit harder and it happened. A think darker yellow/white puss came out and I drained the whole thing down. I was sooo surprised! Then I went to research to see wtf it might of been. I came across this with a lot of information and I keep reading about this stupid sac. I never cut any kind of sac, the pus was harder then usual pus, leading me to believe it was keratin. Absolutely no blood at all, it was all puss. Towards the end the pus turned into more of a liquid. I continued to squeeze it all out. So its been 3 days. First day it was a little red, no noticeable cut or anything. 2nd day it turned dark, started scabbing a bit. 3rd day (today) the scab turned white. I thought it was filling back up, so I took a shower and just cut the top of it off with nail clippers. No pus, no blood. I do not want this thing coming back, after I cut the white scab thing off, I was expecting to see some more pus and hopefully a sac, but nothing. It just looks like wet pink tender skin underneath. I dont want to mutilate my penis, but I want this gone. Am not afraid of a little pain, I just want to know if I should keep opening it up and dig around for this sac or should I let it heal and see what happens?Usually in my experience, if I halfway pop a zit or ingrown hair, it usually fills up to twice the size by the next day. Its been 3 days, hasn't grown. Possible it will heal? How long does it usually take for a cyst to fill back up?
