Having septoplasty/tonsilectomy done next week. Im 57 years old, how well will I most likely feel about a month later? Generally what can I expect as far as pain with speaking right away, same day, next few days?

First of all you don’t need to panic and to be scared and to expect the worst of it. All the information you want and need to know about these procedures you will get from your doctor. He is obliged to let you know about all the details you are interested in and to explain everything you want to know.
It will be painful in the first few days and regarding tonsillectomy the worst is the fifth and in some cases the sixth day. But all this can be overcome with pain killers and following the exact instructions your doctor has provided. After recovery you will not be having the same issues as before and that is the most important part.
