Hi all,
31 years old, 4 kids. I gave birth to all 4 without analgesia and I can tell you this is the same as labour pain at 7-8 cm dilated. Interesting to hear so many going through the same thing, but disappointing to hear so few possible answers. Same horrible pain that radiates through the lower abdomen and pelvis and upper thighs, lasting 20-30 min, complete with nausea. Just 2 days prior to this I had a pap smear and had the beginnings of this pain when the spectrum was inserted, but since it was so quick the pain never worsened. This started for me last year and I have had about 4 or 5 episodes of it. Definiately has an impact on your sexual relationship! There are many ways of having sex without intercourse, though...... wink, wink. Does not seem to be related to having an orgasm. Will make an appointment with my OB/GYN, but I'm not very optimistic after reading all this!

I'm glad that I am not the only person experiencing this severe lower abdominal pain. The only difference I notice is that with me the pain gets so bad that I start to pass out. Also my pain happens only 2-3 times a year. I've been reading alot of articles online and I think it could be one of two things, IBS or Endometriosis. Anyways heres the symptoms I've been experiencing.

Nausea/Vomiting
Severe immobilizing lower abdominal pain
Fainting
Cold sweats
Bloating
Bowel Movement
Menstration after 2-3 days

I have read every entry here and I have the same exact symptoms as all of you. I have been reading a lot about it online, searching all my symptoms, but all it has done is scare the c**p out of me because most symptoms lead to cervical cancer or endemetriosis. This has only happened to me twice with my boyfriend, the first time only lasting about 5 minutes and with only sporadic shooting pains from my lower abdomen down to my vaginal opening... But this last time, a couple days ago, I was in the worst pain of my life about 5 minutes after sex.. Couldn't speak, move, or hardly breathe it was so bad. I almost threw up. Luckily, I had strong pain killers in my medicine cabinet from a previous back issue so after taking that, the pain started going away. But it still lasted about an hour maybe more!! Scared the hell out of my BF. I'm so scared to have sex again. I'm going to my OBGYN but my appt isn't for a couple weeks. What the heck do you do until then but self diagnose on the Internet!
One question I want to ask you ladies, have any of you had an abortion in the past year? I thought this might have something to do with it. I unfortunately had to have one about 6 months ago. I'm wondering if I developed scar tissue or something that is causing this.
I hope all of you find relief! And as soon as I find out everything from my OBGYN, I'll share my diagnosis with you all and hopefully
it will help out. Good luck![/list]

Hi...I've been reading all the threads posted here. It's very reassuring to find others that have experienced the same thing, as horrible as it is, but needless to say, reassuring!
I am in the midst of recovering from an 'attack' if you can call it that. It happened straight after sex with my long-term boyfriend which was about 2hrs ago. It started off as an uncomfortable feeling during penetration but not a worrying feeling because i sometimes get that just before my period anyway. However, as soon as the sex was over the pain got more and more intense until i was bent over in agony so much so that i just had to curl up on the bed. No matter what position i tried, nothing eased the pain. My boyfriend seemed concerned and I asked for him to look up online medical help. After several minutes I went to the bathroom to see if I maybe needed to go to the toilet or something, but nothing, if anything it seemed to make it worse and I thought I was going to be sick, but wasn't. I had to go back to lie down as that was the best thing for it. I took some painkillers about 10 minutes ago & the pain is slowly subsiding so I can now sit up & type this, but the pain is definately still apparent in my lower abdominal area. I had no sweats, just the pain and i'm guessing my period is due soon. From reading other peoples comments I am confused as to what may be the cause and it maywell be any of them, be it a cyst, severe trapped wind, etc. If it persists I will get it checked out..maybe an ultrasound like suggested by another user....

I have had the sever pain after sex on and off for about 2 years now. With it also sometimes is light bleeding during or afte sex but not all the time. I went to the doctor and had a laparoscopy done and they found lesions that is actually endometriosis. Its a common disease women get, its not an std or anything like that. Since they found it I have had numerous rounds of lupron and it will cure the symptoms while on it and once i quit it comes right back. Somedays it doesnt bother me at all and then somedays its terrible. My boyfriend does pretty good coping with me not wanting sex because im scared of the after effects but it really puts me in a down mood I just wish there was actually a cure for it or something longterm that could stop it.

Hello. I experienced the same thing many years ago. I went to the emergency room and nothing was wrong. However, as time passed, I continued to experience painful intercourse. Come to find out, I had many cysts in my ovaries. Every woman gets cycts, howeve, I had so many cysts that my ovaries were swelled. I was soon diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome). You might want to check into it. Your gynecologist should easily be able to tell whether you have pcos or not.

Hi everyone, am 21 years old, just experienced the same symptoms few hours ago just after an intercourse, I have been experiencing lighter pain before but today's was I guess like labor pain. I consulted my GYN few weeks ago and explained to her what was happening and she stated that when our periods are on the way the egg gets out of the ovary it leaves a kind of wound, and when during an intercourse-especially during fast needed sex- there is a pressure on the wound that releases pain depending on how much pressure was exercised on the uterus. I hope this could be helpful for you guys. As long as so many women has experienced the same thing, there isn't much to be worried about.
Good luck everybody!

I am 32 years old, married for over 12 years, have birthed 5 children with out drugs for pain relief (I will say, water really helps).

The first time this has ever happened to me was this weekend. It wasn't rushed or anything. My husband is quite gentle and, well, considerate if you get my meaning. We both enjoyed being together, and then suddenly I was in HORRIFIC pain. It was worse than labor pains or period cramps.

Remember I said I had birthed 5 times with no medication? I have learned a few tricks to cope, and relax. It wasn't working. I tried to use the bathroom. I thought I might vomit, but I didn't. My body was covered with cold sweat and I felt dizzy, light headed.

Since then I have had tenderness in my abdomen, like I might be coming down with a bladder infection. I have been chugging water, cranberry juice (no sugar added, plain cranberry) and herbal tea designed for bladder health. This method has effectively prevented a full-blown UTI in the past for me, but maybe it was something else.

I just had a period 2 weeks ago, so maybe it was pain from ovulation. I have never experienced this, but I have heard of it happening that some women have pain as the egg is releasing from the ovarian follicle.

I get this as well. have had it for 9 years and it happens after exercise too and always within the 2 weeks before my period. Stops once i'm on my period. I have POCS and Uterine Fibroids. My doctor has no idea why my cramps only last 15 mins and why it's triggered by arousal and/or exercise. Sometimes, it happens for no reason now (just sitting at my desk at work)...

have any of you gotten a vaginal ultra-sound? I had the exact same symptoms as all of you. I have painful sex sometimes anyway, and if a certain spot is hit, it shoots pain all up and down my body. This pain is terrible, but I am used to it now. But when I got these symptoms the pain was like someone was stabbing me repatedly...this is far far worse than the pain I just described. I went to the doctor almost immediately they did an ultrasound and I had a ruptured cyst. It was massive over the size of a fist. Next day the pain I felt was only distant and barely noticeable.

My girl friend just begin to have these sudden pains in her lower abdomen area. She said it felt as if she had air pockets trapped inside of her stomach and all of a sudden she had to throw up. She could not move for about 10 min because the pain was so intense. She thought I may of went to deep but I did not believe that was the problem due to the fact this is not the first time we had sex. She has fallen asleep know and it about 45 min has past. I insisted that we go to the emergency room but she did not want to go. I have read a few other post about this exact same situation and everyone has simply said that they just let the pain subside or they took a few pain killers. As a man I do not feel like this is a common problem among women that has no explanation. To all the women who are having similar problems, please do not let the pain simply go away. Go to the emergency room while you are in pain to get an explanation. Because I need one, I was very affraid.

Has anybody found an answer to how to stop this pain?! I have experienced it twice, now, in the past few days. The first time, we went to the ER. They did an MRI, and found a herniated thoracic disk, but I'm wondering if that was just coincidental, because none of the symptoms of herniated disks fit, and ALL of the symptoms you ladies have posted fit. It's the WORST pain I've ever felt in my life, I curl up in fetal position, and end up vomiting. It does, sort of, feel like gas, but right under my ribs. The pain radiates to my lower back and down my spine, especially if I try to straighten up (or stand, even). It lasts a good 5-8 hours, which is awful, cause I can't move whatsoever. The first time this happened was Thursday night (4 nights ago), and my period starts tomorrow. How strange, that we all are experiencing this, and right before our periods. This sucks. : (

I have been having these pains reoccurring very often now. As most of you said it is THE WORST PAIN EVER and i cant do anything except lay down and wait for it to subside. I feel like i am going to throw up . The pain starts minor and then slowly builds to worst and then after about 20 minutes starts to go away again. i sweat a ton and i would love to know what causes this??
