I'm am a little relieved to hear im not the only one who is having these problems. But, sadly to hear that their really is no treatment. I am a twenty one year old and married. My severe cramps start right after my husband and I have sex and i never experienced any cramping pain like these ones. I am left crying and so uncomfterbal. This is has been happening every time after sex. Also I am not due for my period for two weeks. I enjoy the pleasure to be with my husband every night but its getting to the point i try to avoid us doing anything. Its just way to painful....so depressing.

I am 20 years old. This has also happened to me u good number of times in the past few years that i have been with my fiance. Severe abdominal and rectal pain, I cannot hardly move or stand up. Sometimes lasts 15 mins, and sometimes 45 mins. I feel like I am going to throw up, but never do. It is one of the worst pains I have ever felt. It feels like my stomach muscles are tightening up, I cannot sit upright or stand up straight.

I've been experiencing something like this. The only differences are that i'm only 16 and I had my period the week before. The pains came not long after having sex with my boyfriend, like all of you have said they were like period pains but 100 times worse. I felt faint but after a while it all pasted. Its been a week since this happened and the pains haven't gone completely. Sometimes when i move or even sit down i get shooting pains in my abdomin, on the left side mostly. I'm glad to finally find that i'm not the only one to experience this but i'm so scared of that it could be anectopic pregnancy or cysts or appendicitis... The number of possibilities are frightening.

Thank you all for speaking out, its helped a little to know i'm not alone and to have some answers.

I have also had the same symptoms. I have had a hysterectomy so I have no idea if it is related to my period. My doctor told me he thought is was related to IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). He said this can cause pain during or after sex. Symptoms of IBS can come and go and be severe or mild. I think my symptoms are mild and its not often I get this pain. Sometimes I will feel the start of the pain and if I stop having sex I will not get the severe pain. I don't know just a thought. But then again almost everyone is being diagnosised with IBS anymore. Maybe it is a catch all diagnosis.

Oh thank goodness I am not alone!!!

This happened to me for the second time since stopping the pill today. ALWAYS a couple of days before my period due.

I had intense pain (up there with childbirth!) starting a couple of minutes after sex. Lasted about 10 minutes before easing over next half hour, the pain was intense and in my lower abdomen. I was hot, cold, unable to move and felt sick with the pain.

My theory is that there is a cyst on the ovary following ovulation that ruptures during sex. I feel ok now apart from raging PMT but I am going to mention it to my GP next time I visit. Oh, and this has happened both times on a month when I felt bad ovulation pains for a day or two.

So glad I am not alone. Never felt pain like it !

Hi ladies, I've had exactly all the same symptons as you lot, even to the point where the pain is so strong it takes my breathe away, I had it happen 3 times to me of different mornings after sex, I then went to the doctors to see what the problem was, he then treated me for pelvic infecton, this was 3 weeks ago now, put me on a course of anti-biotics for two weeks, I've now been of them for a week now, but after having sex again this morning the pain came back to me literally 5 minutes after sex, after knowing how bad the pain was last time and making me sick, I took feminax straight away to sooth the pain, literally within 4 minutes the pain went from these pain killers which you normally use for period pains. Hopefully that should help if you was to get the pain again. I am going to go back to my gp as this isn't normal and me and my partner are worried, and it clearly wasn't due to a pelvic infection. Hopefully we can find out what causes this unbareable pain. X

I have also had this feeling. I have been to the Doctor and he couldn't find anything. I worry so I wanted to make sure nothing was terribly wrong. My friend scared me when she told me I may have Polycystic ovaries. I may, but I need to go to the Dr to have that checked out. With no insurance, that's hard to do. I'm getting married soon and I want to be able to have children. I am very honest with my fiance. He knows about the pains. I have noticed it happens within the week before my period OR when I have gas- sorry, but it's true. After it happens it feels like I have to go to the bathroom but I can't! Not even to urinate... It feels like if I could, it would relieve the pressure. I also feel bloated when this happens. I'm not a Dr but I think a lot of times it is just gas!

I am beyond happy to know I amnot the only one. I just experienced this a few hours ago after having sex with my boyfriend . It happens alot to me . If I feel like I'm going to orgasim or "squirt" and the timing is off and I lt doesn't release, right after is when the crippling pain occurs. I can't move I try to go to the bathroom but it gets worse then I feel sick and sometimes throw up. And a few min later I'm fine . I read somewhere that it's like a form of blue balls for women but I just want to kno that it's not a serious problem!

This same scenario just happened to me although unlike other times the pain lasted longer than it normally does ( 15 min) this lasted almost an 30 mins. I have no cure or documented answers to tell but what I usually do to heal fast is 1. Get a washcloth and moisten it with very cold water the colder the better and pour it on ur pelvic region while laying flat on floor on your back. 2. Do not sit on the toilet and try to do a #2 although ur body and mind is telling you too this we promote additional pain. 3. If number 1 doesn't work take a cold shower focusing on pelvic region. slowly pain will cease. What I notice is the blood flow needs to calm down so with the cold water the blood flow regains it's normal flow. Then drink lots of cold fluids preferably water and rest. What is happening to you is maybe that you may have a cervical cyst that may have swelled up due to an upcoming menstruation.

I too have been experiencing these symptoms along with you guys following intercoarse... i am a 40 yr old woman with 4 children and have recently had a total hystorectomy ( overies tubes cervix and womb removed)... however the pains discribed i have experianced prior to this proceedure so im kinda doubting that the symptoms are related to the menstral cycle... The pain is the worst kind of pain ive ever experienced this i say after giving birth to 4 children naturally ... Its been a few dayz since the last epeisode and i still find myself in pain although managable. the intense initial pain following sex consisted of a gripping pain in my lower abdomine and what felt like my cervix although as stated i have no cervix now, i was sweating and could not find a position to eleviate the pain , i felt sick and faint and felt i needed to go to the toilet, i did, however this did not eleviate the pain either im guessing the need to poo was more to do with the intense pain... i also had some bleeding although not a vast amount... as mentioned befor by somebody else i couldnt tell if the pain was related to the intestine or urinary.. it felt likke my pelvic floor was in complete spasm!!! i am bloated for dys after these episodes and have constant but managable ( anything manageable after the initial pain ) for days following, it almost feels like trapped wind, ive had the pain following one of these episodes up in my diaphram shoulders back and neck.. its getting to the point where im too afraid to have intercoarse for fear of the same thing happening again.. i havnt been to the dr about this yet as im guessing they will not have any answers... ive been aqdmitted to hospital once for it but they could find nothing untoward and discharged me, so im going to keep ressearching it myself and see if i come across anything... wish me luck !!!;0)

I've had the exact same experience, but I am 42 and have had a total hysterectomy.  In fact, I sit here now in extreme pain trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with me.  I've asked my GYN in the past about this. Before I was told its "bruising of the uteral wall during intercourse", but now I don't have a uterous, so I know that's NOT it.  Most of the time I get this within minutes of starting intercourse, but usually in the doggy position.  Doing it the "normal" way, I'm fine until a few hours later.  Its hard to enjoy sex or even think about it when you know every time you "do it" your going to be miserable for days.  I have learned through experience that anti-inflamatories, such as Aleve or naproxyn ease the symptoms and make it more bareable to function for a few days.  I just wish someone out there knew what was really causing this to happen.  Some men are not very understanding of this issue, and call it just an excuse.

My girlfriend had the same symptoms that have been described here. Rather than make a useless post, like most of these are. I will tell you that we went to the hospital, waited 9 hours to find out it was a bladder infection and she was prescribed anti-biotics.

P.S. This is how you follow up on a discussion. Your welcome.

I am so glad im not the only person that this has happened to. Last night for the first time i experienced what all you ladies are talking about. I did not go to the hospital but did schedule an appointment for later in the week. That being said i do not know what caused the HORRIBLE pain but it lasted about a half an hour total. I get really bad cramps a majority of the time when i get my period and found that soaking in a hot bath REALLY helps to ease the pain. I'm thinking it must be some sort of muscle contraction because almost  immediately after getting in the hot water you can feel the pain ease. Just figured id share.

OMG I HAVE THE SAME PAINT YOU GUYS !!!!! I JUST HAD SEX LIKE 20 MINUETS AGO AND THEN IT WOULDNT STOP HURTGING DO YOU THINK I AM PREGNANT?  I CANT BE PREGNATN BECAUSE IWILL GET IN TROUBLE... I AM 14 IS THAT TOO YOUNG TO BE PREGNANT?

Furthermore, I have a striking pain in my lower abdominal area. I believe it is caused by overly strenuous intercourse, which I had engaged in immediately prior to the posting of the current message I am typing. Any type of assistance would be greatly appreciated, as I cannot bear this much longer.
