I thought I'd add a quick reply with my own experience. It was a relief to me that I'm not alone. Here are some of my symptoms and they seem very similar to the ones I've read in all the replies here. I have had similar pains after intercourse but NOTHING to this extent until tonight. I am still feeling the dull aftershocks of pain.
The awfulness: I felt some dull pain towards the end of rushed and intense intercourse. Within 5 minutes after we finished I had what felt like menstrual cramps and quickly worsened until I was doubled in pain on the toilet with many of the same symptoms listed previously: cold/hot/clammy with chills and pins and needles, pain throughout my whole abdomen, couldn't decide if the pain was coming from my vagina or my esophagus! I suffer from mild IBS on occasion and have had self-diagnosed ovarian cysts before so I supposed it could be related to either one or anything else! I have NEVER felt pain this horrible, even with the worst IBS episodes. I had some severe gas but was not relieved once it left me. I normally suffer my pain in silence, curled in a ball, but I couldn't help but be vocal. I also felt like I was going to throw up at any moment and I haven't vomited since I was 14! I didn't, I simply prayed for relief. I told my husband "God I hope labor isn't much worse than this or I just may never want babies" lol. But seriously, is it like some of the women who have commented here said? Is the pain worse or similar to labor? I would imagine labor lasts longer than the hour and 1/2 I just barely made it through! haha.
Other info: I am 25 and this is happening about a week before starting my period.
In terms of relief: I took a very hot bath and some Advil. It's been almost 2 hours since the sex and sitting still while I type this I only have a dull ache in my lower abdomen, but when I move it hurts more. We're supposed to be leaving in a few hours for a trip across the country! Hope I'm full healed soon, travelling in this condition sounds like a nightmare.
With the IBS, intercourse pain and allergies I suffer from I have realized the only real solutions (that really aren't practical at all) are to stop eating, having sex and breathing. :)

It's been exactly a week since my last reply so I wanted to post a quick update.
After the 2 hours of intense pain the night of, I had about 3 days of dull pain that was less noticeable while I sat or lay completely still, but walking hurt A LOT and every time I had any gas I felt sharp stabbing pains right below my belly button that would go away after a few seconds. Anytime I was jostled or had any pressure on my lower abdomen (even an elastic waistband) I would feel pain and my "guts" almost felt like they were loose inside me. Breathing deeply made it worse, too. I was cautious with ever movement, so scared of potential pain.
On the 3rd day I was mostly back to normal with only very little pain (besides what I would attribute to my period starting around the same time)
I still freak out when I think about last week. It makes me never want to have sex again. :P
I am kind of obsessed with this now. I can't believe this can be happening to so many women (at least it seems, I've researched it a bunch since then haha) and it's just depressing to think that modern medicine hasn't figured this out, or doesn't seem interested in figuring it out. I've considered making a doctor's appointment when I have flashbacks to how awful it was, but I'm somewhat doubtful they would even have anything to tell me, particularly since it's been over a week. Oh well, I just hope it never happens again and that someone with a medical background will adopt my obsession and discover answers. :)

I'm a 21 yr old female, petite and havnt had rough sex til now.. Recently i had amazing sex with my boyfriend, yest. evening at 10pm and at 5 in the morning, a sudden feeling of sharp sore pains in my lower abdominal area quickly put my body into the fight or flight mode, it. This pain didn't go away until 1hr and 30mins later =/ ive felt the same pain in the same area twice before right after sex with my boyfriend about a few months ago.. and back then i thought maybe its common after deep penetration sex, so i didn't bother researching into it until now. It feels like the pain got worst, i guess knowing what it felt like the first time, i felt the same sharp pain but this pain is frightening for feeling such a pain again. This pain also lasted longer than the first two times i felt it. I felt like weakness snuck up on me, i also started sweating, getting the shivers and a tingle sensation release throughout my body. I still don't know what to do to stop the pain besiides wear a heating pad on my abdominal region.. i feel it coming back again.. what is this feeling? it makes me wonder if its because i didnt drink enough water in my day and something in my lower abdominal region gets inflamed with pain..? this pain hurts soo bad. Knowing im not the only one, moves me a step forward to knowing how i get this sudden pain and why it hurts soooooooooooooooo much. =/

I am 38 and have had the exact pains and descriptions listed on this forum. After sex maybe 4 hours or so,the pains started. (3 yr. ago) I went to my gyno in pain and she said i need a cat scan , so I went to the ER, to get eval. and cat scan. They ran tests, labs, scans, ultrasound. And after 3 days of being in the hospital, they sent me home with pain killers. No explanation. SO I went to a Gastroenterologist and had test ran and they found nothing. The pain would be so intense I could barely breathe and certainly could not move. Sweating, felt nausea, faint. It is excruiciating. So after sex a few nights ago within a few hours the pain started, I could bearly breathe. I was on my knees, sweating, crying, shivering, cold then hot, major bloating!!! SO my first episode with this lasted about 2-3 weeks, off and on pain, this second episode has been going on for 1 week. What is this?

Oh! My it sounds just like my problem. But I did get results I have Urethra polpys & and also urethra dropped so in having surgery. After so many years of suffering finally someone found& solved my abdominal pain especially after sex or on my period. I hope you get help Don't give up! Good luck!

I am 20 years old and have been experiencing this type of pain during sex on and off for about two years now. As many of you have said, there has been nothing found to be wrong. I've tried different birth control pills, chiro, and physio. The only thing that seemed to help was a natural-path "realigning" my uterus. However, last night the pain came back and I was once again in the bathroom throwing up because it was so intense. It makes me feel a bit better that I'm not the only one with this problem.

Thank you for being male and not having any sympathy at all. It is impossible for all of these women to have bladder infections every time this happens. Maybe you should actually listen to what we're saying and not post stupid useless things that are just going to annoy all us women who can't bare to move because of a male's doing.

I feel very nauseated, I'm burning up but also freezing cold. I feel like throwing up and when I stand up I get dizzy. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow because I've felt like this since last night. I threw up last night a few times actually. I've tried carbonated drinks milk juice and water they all make me throw up. Yet I am on my period. I think anyways because the day after I started bleeding. But I, like all of you, have had the same problem with laying in different positions to try and ease the pain. I did take an Alieve but it hasn't helped any. I might end up going to the e.r. To find out what is wrong.

This may sound silly, I have been reading all of the posts- from a year or so back, up until now.
When you are about to get your period, your cervix lowers and hardens ( closes if you will ).
Up until that point it is "high and open" soft, and pliant.
I'm sure most women know the sensation of being filled with air during sex, on the occasion that a bubble gets trapped inside the vagina behind a thrusting penis (or strap on / fist / dildo) embarrassing noise maybe but nothing else for the most part.
what if air is somehow pushed into a closed cervix, especially when you are getting ready to shed your lining...?
could that create a sensation of extreme internal gas pains, with no relief with changing positions... like trapped gas creating ripping pressure- without a length of intestine to escape into.
Thats just where my thoughts went while reading, I would love to see what the Rn, and RN students that have posted think, if any are still following this thread.

This exact same thing happened to me, after sex I had severe lower ab pains and then went to the toilet, started coming up in sweats and heaving no stop. I felt faint, heated up ridiculously, pins and needles and general pain. Reading your distribution above sounds very similar indeed. I am due on my period so the comment above makes sense so that puts my mind a rest some what. Thank you.

I am so amazed to find this post, as I am have been suffering from this exact issue for the last 6 years. I am 31 and have 3 children. This only happens occasionally, maybe once every few months, and is horrible, child-birth-like pain that lasts 45 min, and about 15 of those minutes are the worst. This last time, I did experience it 4 days before my period. What is going on? I am thinking a ruptured cyst, as once before I had a CT scan a few days after and some fluid was seen close to my ovary (I cant remember exactly.) I see some think gas, but I highly doubt it... Maybe extreme muscle spasms? What about ovulation? (yet, some of you have this post- hysterectomy.)

thank goodness I'm not alone... this just happened to me like an hour ago. I was having sex and think I orgasmed and had to stop due to pain in my uterus like cramps. it got sooo bad I thought if I went to the bathroom i'd be better. I could hardly walk. I asked my boyfriend to get me a heating pad. i wanted to pass out and was cold sweating and felt like I was gonna throw up. It was awful pain. I'm 29 and have 2 kids and this was worse than any cramps or labor pains. it lasted about 15 to 20 mins and I was hunched over finally on the bed with a heating pad in a childs pose with pillows under me and eventually the pain died down. What is it that causes it?? anyone know?

omg the exact same thing happened to me ikm worrried tho because not that long agao i experienced and ectopic pregnancy. didnt need surgerry tho i caught it time as i knew i was pregnant. last month i was two weeks late on my period o this month i dontt know when im suppost to come on but it should be soon. last night i felt the exact same pains, sickness, dizzyness, i could not move i knockd out on the bathroom floor. its still abuit achy today in the lower abdomen.; im not sure if this has anything to do with my stomach but after all of that last night i blew my nose this morning and there a bit of blood. what should i do as its good friday and no docters are open until monday :( please help me. im only 21 years old already have a 10 month old son.
