I'm complely shocked beyound belief to finally have found other people whom have been going through the same things I have. I am a 16 year old and experience symptoms like you have all descirbed. I recently had sex with my significant other and during there were some sharp pains but we moved positions and continued. I have them all the time dull like and sometimes really quick and then their gone, but always after sex. Anyway, It didn't help any though because a few minutes after we were done, and went for a walk I fell to the ground in such immence pain I can't even begin to discribe. I had the hardest time breathing correctly and couldn't do anything to make it feel better I wanted to cry but any movement seemed to irritate it compleltly. I was going to go to the doctors, but with an hour the pain subsided. I have in the past few months been to multiple doctors who cannot seem to pin-point a reasoning for these pains and suggested a surgery that I do not think I am ready for, however, I am truly ready to get rid of these mysterious pains that are always bothering my everyday life.

I had the same thing happen last night. Worst pain of my life. After hours of intense pain and not being able to move my husband dressed me and took me to the ER. ER Doc said that we breathe differently during sex and air can get trapped inside our intestines. Basically it was severe gas pains. Gave me gas meds and made me drink ginger ale. Felt 100% better in an hour. ER Doc said he doesn't know why but this tends to happen to women more when they are closer to starting their periods. I should start in 2 days.

wow, it amazes me of how common this is. i was about to start my period and i have menstrual cramps. even though i was cramping i had sex and the next day not only did i have cramps but also a different stomach pain kinda how you guys described it as "dull" and intense. it is about the 2nd day of my period, i have no menstrual cramps, but the stomach pain remains. i don't know what it could be..i was thinking maybe his penis hit something at a weird angle..the position we were in was me laying on my tummy and him laying on my back..i just hope it isn't a cyst or an std cuz me and my bf have been together 9 months and we're both clean as far as i know so an std would mean he cheated but i doubt he would do that..i'm kinda worried if it doesn't go away by tomorrow i might have to call my gyno..it hurts..it's dull but has intense peaks of terrible pain..not cool

I have had these pains for the last couple years now. I also noticed they were timed a couple days before my period. I talked to the gyno about it and she said it is normal and that my ovaries are swelled before my period. She said birth control could help. I started using the Nuva ring and the pains were finally gone! I recently switched to Loestrin 24 and the pains have returned. I even got them in the middle of my cycle because the change of birth control effected my cycle and I got them a couple days before I started spotting mid-cycle. The loestrin has less hormones in it and I think that's why the pains have returned. It all depends on what's right for you but I think more hormones help with the ovary swelling.

I also notice this happening more when sex happens quickly. When we go from 0 to 60 and penetration occurs without much foreplay. I pretty much always know half way through the sex that it's going to hurt. There is always one thrust that dings something inside. I get a quick sharp pain and if its that time in my cycle... I know there will be pain.

It can really hurt a relationship because I feel afraid to have sex and my boyfriend feels like he did it to me. This condition realllllly sucks.

I have also noticed if I need to got to the bathroom or have any gas before sex that this increases the chance that I will have pain afterwards. So ladies... fart before you start!!

My recommendation:

I read about the healing power of water because these pains to me (although I've never been pregnant) feel like what I picture labor pains to be like. I know a lot of women that don't use pain relievers during labor, use the bathtub to help ease their pain. I noticed a warm shower- even laying or crouching on the floor of the shower really helped me calm down.

Also- concentration. I noticed when I get all flustered and start hyper-ventilating from the pain-- that's when I throw up. I've only thrown up twice and it was definitely from the pain. When I focus on breathing-- it seems to help keep everything from going completely haywire.

I also pushed on the spot between my thumb joint and my first finger. That little patch is supposed to help pain- I squeezed it sooo hard- it left marks but seemed to help.

I'm sorry for anyone that has to go through this. I wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy.

I'm not a doctor (only a medical transcriptionist), but this sounds to me like a ruptured functional cyst in the ovary: . Definitely talk to your ob/gyn about it.

I have had the same pain as all of you poor women out there and back in June I had an operation for fybroid cysts removed from the uterus they thought that this would help but with in less than a month they are back.
I am out here right now cause I am just dyen (LOL) from the pain right now and yes it only does happen after having sex with my fiance and it SUCKS!!! I do have 3 children and for some reason it does affect more women who have had children or women in their 30's. I cant stand this pain it's B.S. I keep gpoing back to the Doc's but they cannot find anything and my next option would be to have all the insides scooped out o.O no thank you!! I wish I could find out what the hell this is cause I just don't want to give up on having sex with my man that is not an option.

Hi, basically I read everyones information and Im so glad Im not the only one in this horrible amount of pain.
I was having sex with my boyfriend last night when the pain started, I could not walk and laid on the bathroom floor until the intense pain subsided long enough for me to crawl in the shower.
The water did help control the amount of panic I was having.
I have no idea when this pain stopped for everyone else but I am still having slight strings of pain when I breath in deeply
It started as almost a cramp but I am not due for my period for another week or so, does anyone know if cysts or gas
or hpv or anything is closely related???
Any help would be so great, i am really scared

Hi Ladies. I am 26 and in the same exact boat. I feel somewhat relieved that I'm not the only one. I feel so terribly guilty avoiding sexual encounters because I am afraid of the intense pain. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but I must admit that the pain I experience from this is the MOST INTENSE pain I have ever experienced. It is almost unbearable... It makes me feel like I might pass out or throw up. It is seriously completely excruciating. I cannot imagine a worse pain. It consumes me and I writhe around and try to recite something soothing and repetitive in my head until the pain begins to subside. I usually down about 800mg of Advil as SOON as I feel the pain igniting, but it hardly starts working in time. Honestly, sometimes when I am without medicine the pain seems to be the same intensity and duration as when I do take medicine. I don't think it really helps AT ALL, but I take it anyway because the pain is so terrible of course I try anything that might help. Actually, a heating pad, hot water bottle, or hot shower/bath, seems to be the only thing that helps. I feel terrible when the pain begins during a sexual encounter. I usually don't tell my partner, but I'm afraid that my steadily increasing pain makes me a worse lover. I try to hurry to get him to finish so that I can tend to what is soon to be jaw-clenching and nearly faint-inducing pain.

It is definitely tied to a certain portion of my cycle. It begins around ovulation time and gets worse just before my period starts. Once I start my period I am safe for a couple weeks. I think it must be tied to ovarian cysts. Any type of sexual arousal can increase blood flow in your lower abdomen and put pressure on a cyst.

I am experimenting with natural remedies. I have found that if I consume high amounts of soy (a potent phyto-estrogen, in other words it is a plant source that mimics women's own natural estrogen), then I have worse cramps. I think minimizing estrogen dominance is key for me. Estrogen dominance can be common in modern women because we are exposed to many types of xeno-estrogens (synthetic estrogens) like parabens, etc, and phytoestrogens like soy. We are absorbing high quantities of excess estrogen.

Best of luck girls!

Please come back and post when you find something that works!

I would say some of the women having this problem are having an ovarian cyst rupture. This isn't near as scary as it sounds although it can be very painful. At the onset of the pain an ultrasound would show some fluid around the ovary and possibly other normal cysts on the ovary. Remember everyone gets cysts who ovulate some get a little bigger a cause this pain when they rupture.

I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts back in 2001 & went thru the laproscopic surgery. Terrible experience for me, to then find out it was a fibroid cyst (a cyst that fills up with a fluid each menstrual cycle). the id**t doctor did not take my ovary he just drained the cyst. so now i am in agony every cycle. I suffered in tremendous pain for 10 yrs after the surgery until i stared the progesterone cream a few yrs back. during surgery i also had my tubes tied. so i was no longer on any birth control. & I also have endometriosis - the dr lazered during my surgery. This has been a very traumatic rollercoaster with all these female problems. i am married and my husband understands, but he still wants sex of course and i could almost go the rest of my life without sex due to the pain. as you all have experienced PAIN after or during intercourse, i have too. last nite it happened again and it was after i orgasmed and it felt like abdominal cramps on steroids! I laid there whining for 15 mins after. then took a pain pill and muscle relaxer, when they finally kicked in i was better. the Natural Progesterone Cream has really helped me with the cramps during my periods and the PMS has also decreased a lot. the stuff helps!!! it has been a God send! I have told my doctor about these pains but she didnt seem to care. You definatly need to ask your dr for some muscle relaxers or pain meds, i would DIE without them! I am a few days from my cycle and I do believe the cramps were from PMS or my ovaries being swollen, MAKES SENSE...

The only thing I can tell you is to see a gynocologist right away, and the reason I am tellijng you this is simply by experiencing the same things that you have described, you should ask your Dr. to give you an Ultra Sound cause it sounds as if you might have a cyst the Ultra Sound should be able to see if there is some kind of growth there; and if there is it can be treated if found early enough with medicine and not surgery, I will stress the fact that women don't take careof their bodies serious enough and think that stuff like this will just go away, you may think it has but in realityit hasn't it is just gettiong bigger and you just got used to pain cause you don't want to complain.

I am a cancer survivor cause I went to the Dr. early enough.

good Luck in the decision you make for your body
