I was having sex about 45 minutes ago and Im still sitting here trying to decide whether to go to the ER. I laid on my back for a while crying, not wanting to be touched or to talk or move, got up to try to use the bathroom and nothing... laid back down but started thinking I was going to throw up. Finally got up to do some research before I made my ER decision and found this. I read every post and while its good to know Im not the only one it doesnt help my pain right now! I got up to get some Aleve after reading some posts (its all I have at the moment) and got more shooting pains from getting up... seems as I stay still it starts to get less intense but as soon as I move it's right back like it started. Im 27, it was somewhat rough sex from behind which usually does seem to go deeper and it does sort of feel like something may have gotten hit but I dont see why it would still be hurting so badly if that was the case. It wasnt a slow oncoming pain either, it was like OH STOP! and is still going on. I really hate to go to the ER but I dont know how much longer I can take it... I do feel dizzy and some nausea, probably from the pain. Not due to start my period for almost 2 weeks. First time this has happened to me... I suppose Ill lay down and hopefully fall asleep, the idea of getting dressed and in the car seems way out of my capabilities right now. %-)

Thank goodness. I thought I was the only one, too. This is the 2nd or 3rd time this has happened to me. I don't have regular periods and it's been a while since my last one, so maybe I'm due. I've been so worried that it might be an ectopic pregnancy or cysts or appendicitis. It's horrible pain that I wouldn't wish on anybody, but I'm also relieved that I'm not alone.

wow I'm so glad i'm not the only one! I'm 25, and the past 3 times ive had intercourse with my boyfriend I've felt sharp pinching stabbing pains in my cervix/uterus/anus and all around. This only happens AFTER intercourse, like 2-5 minutes later i become totally crippled with pain and cant move. moving my legs at all feels like im going to rip something in my abdomen. this lasts about 20 minutes and then i fall asleep or it goes away. I have an IUD and was wondering if maybe it got moved or jarred during sex- and thats what im feeling? any ideas? i made an appointment to have it looked at this week, so i'll let you know. i'm due to start my period any minute now, which seemed to be common with lots of other comments.

Me and my boyfriend are very sexually active. We used to have sex about 3-5 times a day. Recently we have both been busy so we got down to once a day. The last day of my period was a week ago, and for the past 3 days after we have had sex I have had the worste abdominal pain of my life. It feels as I'd I should be giving birth. it only happens during night time sex though. I am very puzzled and I don't know what to do. I enjoy having sex but these pains make me not to even want to try. I see that the ladies say that they have been getting it about 5 times in 3 years, yet I am getting it 2 times a day! The only thing that really helps me is a REALLY HOT BATH.

Hi, Im 21 years old with two toddlers and me and my fiance have been together for 8 years now. last night we had sex, and we were both a little tipsy. but afterwards i started having lower abdominal pain that also could not be soothed with different positions or after urinating. i am in my last year of college to become an RN. and i have a few ideas about what could be causing the pain. if accompanied by a fever or discharge, it could be pelvic inflamitory disease, which is not only caused by STD's, but also reaccuring urinary tract infections, which i have personally had a problem with since i gave birth to my children. the other hypothesis i have is cervical dysplasia, i have had HPV since the moment i lost my virginity, (to the wrong person at a very young age), HPV affects about 60% of the population, mostly females, and causes different problems as serious as cervical cancer. cervical dysplasia is cancerous cells on the cervix. and this may have no symptoms unless it goes untreated for a long period of time. then one of the most prominent symptoms is abdominal pain after intercourse. im extremely nervous about finding out if my cervical dysplasia has come back (after being removed 2 years ago). but i also have the Mirana (an IUD). and also i have had some ovarian cysts in the past year rupture and this feels completely different than that. and these symptoms are also accompanied with intercourse. and the pain feels as if its in my uterus or cervix, like a pins and needles feeling, but severe. so im not sure which one of these could be causing the pain, but i never want to experience that again, so i plan to go to the doctor this week, and hopefully come up with a definate answer from my ob/gyn.

Hi everyone,
I 've no kids and I've never been pregnant but I experience the same symptoms as everyone else here: the pain, sweating etc. However, I don't actually have to have intercourse to feel this way. As a matter of fact, when I have orgasms in my sleep, usually I would be awaken by intense stomach contractions and feelings of nausea after orgasm. I sweat, sometimes throw up, and minutes later, its as if nothing happened. Again, it occurs a few days before my period. When I have regular intercourse, I'm fine!!Does anyone else experience this after sleep orgasms?or is it just me :S

I have experienced severe abdominal pain after sex 2-3 times in the last 3 years. I found a post on this site that said an ER doctor told her we breath differently during sex and the pain is caused by air that becomes trapped in your intestines. This makes sense to me. The pain is so intense I sweat and cannot decide if I am going to throw up or pass out. No position relieves it. I end up sitting on the toilet until the pain subsides. I have found that as I sit, I pass a little gas. The post also said the pain is more common right before your period. I am due for my period this week and experienced the pain after sex this afternoon. Has anyone else heard anything about gas causing these pains? I am an RN with experience in OB. I really don't think a doctor would find anything wrong with me if I made an appointment. I have asked myself all of the questions a doctor would and can't find anything that makes sense other than gas.

Hi,
I am 25 years old and have a history with ovarian cysts. 3 years ago I had a cyst rupture and was hemmoraging (misspelled but you get the picture) internally for 23 hours. I almost died. When I went to the hospital the doctors could not figure out what was wrong for a couple hours and finally took x-rays and decided they were going to have to do an emergency surgery just to drain the blood so they could see what was wrong. The pain was so excruciating!! I wanted to cry so bad, but it only hurt worse when I did. My 7 year old son (4 at the time) was the only one with me and had to see me collapse on the floor and vomiting the blood that I was retaining. I had no phone at the time and couldn't even walk to the front door. Lucky for me, a friend stopped by and heard me yelling for help when he was knocking. This pain was the most excruciating pain that I have ever felt and I had my son natural with no meds and I had c-section with my twin girls. I am only even on this site because recently while my husband and I are having sex very similar pains occur and blood is usually there even when I am nowhere close to starting my period (and this is happening so frequently that I am scared to even have sex with him most of the time). Thinking of what could have been then has me very scared now. I have just researched the causes of these pains and I want to inform some of you what the possibilities are... Most of the possibilities are STI's, then there is miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy, then the last reason that I found is that cysts are very possibly forming and/or growing and causing the pain. I am not guaranteeing that this information is accurate and if it is I am not guaranteeing that these are the only explanations, I am only wanting to let everyone of you know that no matter how small the pain, go to the doctor!! My son almost had to bury his mom when he was 4 years old. It is very emotional for me to even think about it now. My aunt asked him if he wanted to go see me while I was in the hospital and he told her no that he wanted to wait til I wasnt sick cause I scared him. When I stop and look back, I regret not trying harder and making it out my front door to scream for help... It starts as a dull pain in the abdomin and quickly expands to utterly rendering you helpless.
