severe blood clotting and bleeding two months after abortion

It's really comforting to know that others have been through this. I was pregnant 3 years ago and 8 weeks along started bleeding. I spent a lot of time in and out of hospital and was told I was starting to miscarry. I ended up going through a surgical termination and pretty much went back to normal straight away. 2 months later I started bleeding and thought my period had come but I soaked one tampon in less than half an hour. Then another. Then a sanitary towel. So I knew something was wrong and went straight to the walk-in centre. It was so bad i was leaving a trail behind me as I walked. The nurse in there just said it was an abnormal period and just to go home and soak in the bath. I had to be picked up by a friend who bought me some clothes and more towels but they were again soaked in half an hour. I felt something coming out if me like a clot and there was a fairly decent sized dark sac like thing in my towel. I panicked and threw it away and spent the next two hours just sat on the toilet with constant bleeding and clotting. I went to the overnight walk-in clinic and the doctor wanted a urine test which I couldn't produce as there was too much blood. After 4 hours of waiting I managed to give a small sample which the doctor tested for pregnancy and it was positive. They finally referred me to the Gyno unit and I was seen by the doctor that did my original scan. He saw the clots and tried to get them out intrusively but I was under no anaesthetic and had to stop due to the pain. I was then out on replacement fluids then blood and given a bed. I woke up in the early hours to find I had soaked the bed entirely and felt really light headed. I hobbled to the toilet and passed out. Luckily my boyfriend was with me and grabbed the nurses, I remember only having a breathing mask and needles going in my arms and then waking up the next morning to what looked like a murder scene! I then had a second termination for what they said was an abnormal pregnancy and the chances that i was still pregnant in the first place were very slim. I pretty much didn't have sex after this for about a year due to the pain and trauma of what happened. Only now for the first time in so long I can talk about it. It's not to scare anyone but I think if you are bleeding heavily and clotting, you shouldn't really have to ask if you should see a doctor! Just go but be honest about what happened and be pushy or you won't get taken seriously! Thanks to anyone that took the time to read this. It's not a nice story, nothing I ever want to go through again.

HI I am from hyderabad and read your mail i am scared , what i will be facing now, i am 29 and had an abortion on Jan 07 -2013 and still dint get my periods its going to be 3 months this 7 April 2013 i am so worried now my family (in-laws) say this is normal that after an abortion women lose lot of blood and thats why they dont get periods for sometime till they gain back the lost blood but i can imagine how painful its going to be for me .

I had a pill abortion 2 months ago,after i completely healed from the abortion i got back on the pill and since my first period, I have had unusually high amounts of bleeding. I never have cramps or terrible periods, or never had, never needed more than a regular for 4 hours on a BAD day, Im anemic so the loss of blood isn't good for me as is. If it doesn't stop I'll have to talk to my doctor and see if I can get a birth control with no period. I have researched and it sounds just as healthy as a birth control with scheduled period... maybe the periods just make our bodies think we are going into labor/shock??

 

Im going through a similar thing going to have an ultrasound tomorrow . The bleeding is so heavy and happens randomly

I think I'm going through this right now. I completely stopped bleeding 6 weeks after my abortion. Now 2 weeks later I randomly started gushing I mean gushing blood. I bled through a tampon in about half an hour and this continued for about 3 hours. Then it just stopped completely out of no where and last night a passed a huge blood clot that was red and tan. Now I'm bleeding again and passing abnormal sized clots but im not sure if I should seek medical attention bc im either bleeding super heavy or not at all.

I don't know if it is normal but right now am bleeding like crazy filly work floor today n clots the size of a lemon. It happened twice.

What procedure did u have done? I had abortion 3 months 12 days ago I'm still bleeding and when I went to the doctor I had thickening in my line to but my ob said it would pass

I am currently dealing with the exact same thing. I'm losing fist sized clots every 5 minutes. I was in the ER last night and the doctor only told me to let my uterus clean itself out. But I have low blood levels already due to bleeding stomach ulcers so losing this much blood is really causing me to almost pass out. My boyfriend has been watching me but this is getting out of hand. I don't know what to do either. I was thinking about calling somewhere to see if they can vacuum it out. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one. Your story of what you're experiencing is beyond identical to mine. If you have figured anything out since posting please let me know.

I took the abortion pill. I bled for two weeks. I stopped for about a week. Since it started up again a month and a half later it has not stopped. In fact it's gotten so much heavier. I'm passing clots the size of small avocados about every thirty minutes.

Is this normal?

I'm currently experiencing it. I was told not to force the blood to stop and now its reducing

I just went through the same things you all did.. I has a surgical abortion back in november of 2015 and i was fight at 13 weeks.. I didnt really bleed at all afterwards gntil about 2weeks ago i thoughy i has started but ir wasnt really blood ir was more like a Brown discharge.. That following week i had be en packing Up boxes moving and stuff like that.. I was sitting at a Drive through window waitinh on my food and all of a sudden i felt a big gush of blood and ir was like someone turned on a faucet it wouldnt stop.. So i pulled off and left my food because it really freaked me out.. I finally made ir to the emergency room an by that time ir looked like i had been stabbed 100 times.. Everytime i stood Up blood poured every where... Finally the doctor came in and did and exam... When he opened me Up he asked fue nurse to hand him a Long qtip thing.. When he inserted the qtip you wouldnt believe the blood clots that fell out.. It was unreal... It almost filled a bucket.. And this was just from my vagina..after that the bleeding subsided ALOT.. It was more like a period after that... That was on a friday well that following Thursday at 3 in the morning i was in bed i felt something wet on my back so i got up and went to the restroom and when i sat on the toilet blood poured again so i got up and had my bf rush me to the ER again but this time i was passing humongus clots.. In not talking about 3 or 4 but ALOT... Lets just say by the time i got to the hospital i had blood Up my back Up my front part and it was soaking through a pretty heavy blanket i sat on the ride there and it didnt even taka us 7 minutes to get there.. Well they finally gay me to the back and the nurse told me to undress lets just say from the look on her face i new it was something very wrong... While laying on the ER bed i started telling my boyfriend to fan me because i was getting really hot and then my legs started going numb then my hands and then my tongue and i started feeling like i was fading in and out so i told them i was fixing to pass out and the nurse kept telling me i was gonna be ok... Well the next thing u know my blood pressure had bottomed out at 50/27 my bf said i was jerking making a weirs noise... Anyway they couldnt do anything for me there but put two IV'S in and turn them wide open and rush me by ambulance to a more well trained hospital... Obgyn ER part... So i get there and that check me do a sonogram of my cervix to see if anything was left behind... Which nothing was left but my cervix was full of blood and clots... They was going to take me back for an emergency DNC but when my blood levels cama back and they had realized how much blood i had post that was scared i would bleed out so they didnt do a DNC... They took me upstairs gave me estrogen through iv and 2 units of blood.. Later that next day released me and sent me home with antibiotics iron pills and birth control... Doc told me he thought i had gotten a infection... The meds have helped ALOT but its still a very terrifying feeling when u have to go through somethin like that...

I had an abortion in December and now I've been bleeding heavily for four days ,it also had clots,i just hope il be fine
