Man, this is the only place I have found on this phenomenon. TWO WEEKS ago I stifled a sneeze during a bout of cold (plugging up both nostrils - been doing this for years and years..), immediate sharp pain right side of neck, but not soo bad. It was definitely that kind of feeling that suggested I broke, ripped, tore, something. I was thinking cartilage at the time. I could still eat, etc. but the dull ache was always there, improving slightly over a week or so. Fast forward to today - EXTREME pain - did not want to talk or eat and even swallowing at all is excruciating. I would be most grateful to hear from anyone for whom the symptoms were the same, and went away. Will this heal on its' own?

I think everyone sneezes different. I have the exact same pain after plugginger one side of my nose, when I had some blockage. The same thing I have been doing for 20 years. And now I have the same pain as what these people describe. Hopefully if goes away or I can have surgery to fix it.

i just did the same thing sneezing i didn't hold mine in my but neck and throat were turned at an awkward angle. Now it feels like the worst case of strep sore throat ever its hard to talk, I'm loosing my voice and its even harder to swallow.... all the research I've done on this so far shows that it could be a fractured larinx. Most times when people go to the er or doctors it will commonly be mis diagnosed and they will wanna treat your for a sore throat and prescribe antibiotics. this and not believe what you are saying. make sure you tell them exactly what you think it is and request an mri and xrays. best case senario its just a muscle sprain or pull. Im going to the doctor in the morning i will update what i am told.

200 mph is how fast and strong your sneeze is. That's why no one should ever hold them in. Also why it's possible to pop your eyes out of their sockets If you're eyes are open and you hold a sneeze in.

Its not viral, thats what they say when they dont know what the hell they are talking about. I had this occur months ago my ENT put a scope down my throat through my nose and only could go as far as my uvula and said she didnt see anything well um no its down further like on the left in back of my asaphigus kinda. After i sneeze (and for the record i never held a sneeze in ) it feels like my throat is gonna explode. Needless to say my ENT just gave me a antibiotic because she said i had like a unresolved sinus infection..well no that wasnt the cause but i took the meds anyway for giggles. Any help would be great just wanna know if its something to worry about or not.

Has anyone else noticed breathing problems and stomach pain with this? I held in a sneeze 3 days ago whilst eating, instantly had the painful throat and breathing problems. When I looked in my mouth I noticed my uvula was red, swollen and touching my tongue. How long can I expect this?

I have been having the same problem, it hurts so bad to sneeze or to blow my nose. the pain is focused on the right upper side of my throat. it seems to help the pain a bit to put pressure on the area when i sneeze or blow my nose. Im on my 3rd week of this...feels like there is no end.
