I have been getting an odd pain in my throat its very intermittant and only lasts a few seconds it seems to move around, it sometimes feels on the right side, sometimes the left, the middle at the back of the throat, sometimes feels like it moves up to my palate or down to my stomach or into my ear! as i said it only lasts a few seconds and can be hours, even days between each time i feel it. Each time i've had it for about 1-2 weeks then it goes completely. i've had 3 of these 1-2 weekly bouts in the last 9 months so its not that often but i am curious as to what it can be. Also i have a cold at the moment and i seem to have a similar pain just below my throat to the right, again only occasionally and seems to be when i breathe in, this one stays in the same place i don't know if this to do with the other pain or just to do with my cold..
I have been to the Dr twice, he has looked at my throat, and ears ( one which he gave me drops as it was blocked with wax) and has done full blood tests, and cannot find anything. It would give me peace of mind to know what was causing it.

Hello! I can’t relate to your pain but I wanted to tell you that I had similar problems with a feeling of lump in my throat. It was present for over two months and would come and go during the day. It didn’t cause any troubles eating but sometimes I had problems taking a deep breath. It was so annoying, just being there. It didn’t hurt but would make my throat feel sore for a few hours.
I went to see a doc and they told me there was nothing wrong with me. But what on earth was then this lump all about? Later I learned that the lump in the throat is caused by stress. Stress can cause the spasm of so called Cricopharyngeal muscles and it produces the feeling of lump in the throat.
I am not sure whether it would cause pain as well, but if you are under stress, try to cut down on it.
