thankyou bbfeet. i found this because i had the same problems as the person who asked the question.

i am 14 years old, and my friend insists that you lose your virginity to a tampon, and refuses to use them until she has had sex.
i was like hell no, i did not lose my virginty to tampon.

My hymen probably broke before i used tampons anyway as i have done a lot of horse riding and gymnastics when i was younger.

anyway thanks for clearing a lot up for me.

Since it didn't hurt you going in that is a good sign, even though it didn't hurt you can still have your hymen, but since your active you could have broken it and not realized it, Tampons can also break your hymen and not cause pain, every women is different. But you are definately still a virgin if you use tampons, it is only until you have sexual intercourse that you lose your virginity. I like to use Tampax Pearl, they have a great applicator and come in smaller sizes which may be better for you. It also may have hurt you if the tampon wasn't inserted far enough into your vagina, or if you removed the tampon too soon. It takes awhile to figure out how to properly insert a tampon so that its comfortable for you. You'll get the hang of it, just hang in there and keep trying :-)

@amirbarnett
okay, if you REALLY loved your girlfriend, then you would trust her and believe her when she said that she's a virgin. and this goes for anyone. the man a girl is marrying should trust her, accept her, and love her UNCONDITIONALLY. see, YOU are the stupidest creature ever. since you clearly are uninformed about women's health, i am going to inform you that the hymen can also be broken from gymnastics, swimming, and other sports... some girls aren't even born with a hymen. how are girls in these cases supposed to help not having a hymen? and for your information, tampons help girls from missing out on things like sports and swimming, etc. and they DO NOT take your virginity. trust me, i know from plenty of experience. what experience do you have? oh yeah, NONE, because you're a guy.

When a girl inserts a tampon into their vagina and removes her hymen she will have lost any proof that she is still a virgin. But technically she hasn't had sex. But it is only her that will know the truth. Whoever the first guy she sleeps with definitely won't believe that she is still a virgin.

Okay Im a virgin and I just put on my first tampon ,it hurts like crazy and it's sorta like a sore stinging feeling. I know that this one is a super so it might just be that it's to long but I'm just wondering if I'm like damaging anything "up there" like it's not comfterable at all.

@lensxoxo i was like that the first time i wore a tampon:/ i only wore it for like 20 minutes because i couldn't bear the pain. i didn't try tampons again for about half a year, but you get used to it after a couple uses, i learned, and now, i wear tampons more than pads, since i can't even feel them anymore. when i wear pads, it feels like i'm wearing a dirty diaper.

The only consistent criterion for virginity is that you are a virgin if you have a hymen with only a small opening (through which the menstrual fluid flows). Insertion and removal of a tampon tears or stretches the hymen, and you are no longer a virgin. You can check by lubricating your forefinger with KY or vaseline and very gently checking whether it can enter your vagina. You are a virgin if you feel the hymen, the membrane at the entrance of your vagina, blocking the entry of your finger. You should avoid sexual arousal when you do this.

I just started using a tampon. And, I know I'm still a virgin.

That has got to be one of the most ridiculous things i have ever heard. Girls, pretend this post doesn't exist, i left it here because it's funny actually

Haha. Virgin is word meaning, "No SEXUAL INTERCOURSE". If you use a tampon. You ARE still a virgin.

Inserting a tampon may rupture the hymen,I think that is what the asker was asking. for all you people know she is 8 years old and you are exposing her to this ? (I had my first period at 8) might i add though a hymen can grow back, my first time i was 13 years old , yet it grew back when i was 16 (no sex between those periods ). so an intact hymen is not a great predictor of virginity, how do you know your hymen is intact , simple get a hand mirror position it infront of your vagina ,, spread your flaps apart with you middle finger and thumb and with your pointer finger lightly push the hymen if it splits in the middle your hymen was broken . if you only see an opening and no tissue dividing the opening of the vagina again hymen is broken . experiencing pain while a tampon is inserted ...you put the tampon in incorrectly just take it out and put a new one in look for instructions on how to insert the tampon brand you use on the website.

I'm sick of people trivialising the hymen like it's just some anomaly, disability or something that can just fall off while you walk or swim! I'm sick of people who keep trying to deconstruct common understanding of "man", "woman", the "family" and pretty much everything they can find, including the hymen! They only cause confusion!

If your hymen breaks you've you loss your virginity pronto! This is not something difficult to understand. You can do anything else (oral sex, anal sex or whatever) and you wont loss anything physical. As simple as that! Virginity = Hymen de facto! All other definitions are pure theoretical pseudo-scientific fictions!

The people who are confused about this are also the people who equate man to woman and since man doesn't undergo any physical changes when he has penetrative sex, therefore they concluded that the hymen must be some kind of mistake of mother nature, a patriarchal construction to put it in feminist terms! False. Man do not equate woman. A woman losses her virginity biologically when her hymen breaks! How difficult is this to understand huh!?! The female homologous member equivalent to the male penis is the clitoris bulb - that is where she masturbates and which will be the primary source of sexual pleasure throughout her life. Penetrative sex is mostly for "creating a feeling of intimacy and bonding" for the woman. In this respect the male physical equivalent of lossing one's virginity is no other than to experience a virgin i.e. having sex with a virgin! This is because penetrative sex is distinctive from sexual pleasure the source of which is clitoral stimulation, the female equivalent to male penile stimulation. Everybody around the world knows that except people in the West. Bear in mind also that there are a lot of common sense things that People in the West seems awfully confused about!

Virgin: someone who hasn't had sex. That simple. Don't have sex, you are still a virgin
