Steroids cause you to gain weight whether or not you eat more or not! This may also cause feelings of mood swings due to the steroids causing elavated blood sugars. If the cyst was that bad they would recommend taking it out. I have had one for many years. The swelling of your legs is caused by the body taking on more fluid which could also cause high blood pressure. It can take a year for your body to get rid of all the prednisone. Don't trust everything you read. Sinus cyst don't cause much except pain.

I have been suffering with terrible headaches for 9 months, along with this dizziness, fatigue, weight gain, stiff neck, ear infections, sickness and high blood pressure. I have had so many tests done thought I had brain clot water on the brain all the real nasty stuff, once all that was ruled out I was sent off to see a neurologist who done a MRI and CT scan, found I have a very large cyst on my left side, so big it's crushed the back of my nose and broken my septum. I've been on such strong medication tramadol and tapiramate for so long I just to be free of them. My appt with my consultant is in 2 days. Will find out when they will remove it!! :-)

My face and head feel like they are going to pop and tons of pressure. Tons of vertigo, night sweats, dizziness. With all the lymph node swelling I finally got to see an ent. He did ct and there is a large cyst in my sinus. Oh and I have had episodes of severe swelling mostly in legs ankles and feet and also depression/anxiety. My left shoulder is.very painful and the numbness goes down my whole arm and fingers causing numbness and pain. My ent just told me that I didn't need surgery but I think so.plz help.

wow im glad i found this im so happy right now. im 20 years old and i got a bad cold around Christmas time when i went out of town (my friend caught it then i did right after now hes fine) i blacked out when i got back home at a friends. rushed to the ER they did a CT Scan and just told me i had a sinus infection and sent me home. felt amazingly better. then all the sudden started getting headaches annyiong pressure in head this almost occuring almost daily, tingling in head, fatigue, high blood pressure, anxiety attacks you name it. had to buckle down with this stuff going on cause it was happening close to exam time got through it some how. Now i talked to my parents about it saw a neurologist gave me a MRI and a EEG (i guess to rule out seizures even-though ive never had one before). MRI showed the cyst on my left cavity. Of course they said its nothing to worry about and i should see a ENT doctor. my mom did not even tell me about it till the other day which really pissed me off. But im defiantly going to see a ENT doctor this sucks majorly. i dont have a clue about surgery but im definitely considering it ? any info would be greatfull o.O

According to North American ENT guidlines, a sinus cyst will not cause any pain pressure, and therefor should not be sugically removed. THAT IS 100% BS. A cyst in any one of your sinuses can cause a number of different symptomes. some of the main symptoms of a sinus cyst are similar to those of sinusitis, pressure pain in both cheeks (regardless of what side the cyst is on) pain between the eyes and in the forhead, fatigue, being dizzy....the symptoms can last for years or months, DEMAND TO HAVE A SINUS CYST REMOVED IF YOU ARE HAVEING CHRONIC SYMPTOMS. ENT's know a sinus cyst is serious sh*t but because somepeople report no problems, they don't remove them often, you really have to keep going to see them and demand to have the cyst removed, not just drained, remove every last trace of the cyst.

about 9 months ago I woke up, went to stand and nearly fell...I thought boy I was in a deep sleep. As I got ready to goto work the dizziness seemed to come and go and my balance was off. I kept thinking I just needed my morning coffee and it would pass.. As I drove to work it worsened. I feared I was having some kind of cardiac event / stroke. I pulled in to the local hospital and was diagnosed with vertigo, given meds and a it may never happen again or it can happen all the time.. I reported back to work three days later and my coworkers insisted I go to the Er..I was Just not myself. In the ER they performed a CT of the brain and I was diagnosed with a sinus retention cyst. I had no pain, no real pressure that I had noticed. They stated there was nothing to be done and suggested an ENT. I had occassional dizziness and that off balance feeling and thought this will pass I will make that appt soon.. Several months ago I had another bad episode and I layed on my bed hung my head upside down and shook it side to side like they did in the ER. Suddenly I felt fluid pour from my ear and mt sinus cavity seemed to open wide..The cyst had ruptured and i have been without event ever since. Has anyone ever experienced this and has it been ongoing or a one time event?

what type of steriod? some types of steriods can cause MAJOR weight gain. my daughter was on steriods (prednisone to be exact) for asthma and gained weight like crazy.

Having the same issues myself. Massive pain on the left side but cyst is supposedly on the right side when I looked at the ct scan. Seeing a neuro in a week.

Interesting read here. I've been having some weird balance issues lately (it's almost like my equillibriam is off) but only in certain situations. Definitely with heights and escalators, where I feel like I'm gonna fall backwards. I never had this before. About 6 months ago, I got a symptom where I felt like I was going to pass out and had bad pressure in my head. Part of me thought I had a brain issue and the worst was being thought, I had a tumor or aneurysm developing. Immediately went to neuro who found no brain issues (Thank goodness!) but a partially fatty lesion in my left sinus cavity with some calcification. Both doctor and neuro told me it was nothing to be concerned about and that I need to leave it alone. Makes me wonder if this is causing my symptoms... my current symptoms:

-A little tinnitus in right ear (usually this is a symptom of something unerlying by they told me it was Meniere's... I'm having no vertigo though)

-Balance issues - Bad with heights (never was before, it's like a panic feeling), in movie theaters, large crowds in small places, on chairs at bars, going UP escalators, etc.

-More shakey, seems like I have anxiety from this all

-Got depressed at some point (better now).

Prior symptoms included (bloody nose when I felt like I was gonna pass out, LOSS of weight and muscle -- worried it was cancer but no cancers have been found, doctor said it was due to the stress from these symptoms, insomnia)

Makes me wonder if this lesion is causing any issues. Everything has come back normal for me. Would like to hear if anyone had any similar symptoms and if removal caused any success. I'm confused as to what's causing my symptoms and am concerned it's either my sinus or potential dental work I had done back when this all started in Jul

Hello Eiana220. My son was given steroids also and developed Cushing's Syndrome. He has had a CT scan and also has a cyst. He still has many of the cushing's type symptoms including high blood pressure. I'm wondering if the cyst is a pituitary tumour. Has this been suggested to you and do you have any other Cushing's type symptoms?
