Miles Weinberger, MD, professor of pediatrics and director of the pediatric allergy & pulmonary division at the University of Iowa says,” The single most important environmental factor that can make asthma worse is tobacco smoke”. Asthmatic adults who smoke are more likely to experience an increase in their symptoms in spite of taking medicines daily. Even children with asthma living in households with smoke are less likely to control their symptoms. So it best to quit smoking and avoid places where people smoke like bars and pubs.
