hi iv had a very swollen and pain full throat for over a week now and been on anitbiotics for 3 days only now iv started to bring blood up in my phlem and i am getting a bit worried as to if this is normal or not and if i should contact my gp again as the pain and swellin dont seam to be getting any better.

Mucus may be lightly streaked with blood if nose and airways are inflamed. Coughing up any significant amount of blood is always a serious medical condition and needs medical atttention..So yes I would go back to your doctor and let them know that the pain and swelling persists and that there is noticible blood....

You have to understand that this is not normal but in most cases this might just be caused by an infection in your throat. Have you had any problems with swallowing food? Do you feel any pain when you drink water or other things? Have you had any problems with your tonsils? Tonsils are often one of the main reason why you can get all these symptoms in your throat. Do you feel any of your lymph nodes got swollen during this week? You should visit your doctor if the antibiotics are not helping. I hope that your throat will get better, you just need to boost your immune system.
