I had a dermoid cyst size 10cm removed from my right ovary. The ovary was preserved during the surgery. Its been 5 weeks now and i have already had one normal cycle of periods. My problem right now is that a large portion of my abdomen is still numb. And sicne yesterday i have noticed that if i touch the left side on my abdomen where numbness presists its hurts. It doesn't hurt a lot feels more like soreness. I am also due on my periods in a few days time. I just want to know if this feeling of sorness is normal??

Hey there,
I had surgery March 17, 2010 to have dermoid cyst removed from my left ovary. They were able to keep my ovary but I still have pain from it. My doc insists that there is no infection and that it will just take time to heal. I've reduced my activity to almost nothing but am bloated and sore most all the time. Can either of you respond with the rest of your stories. Out of all the threads-this one is the most current. 4 weeks after my surgery my chest also hurt for no reason-just a pulling feeling at the time. That has diminished a bit but this has been quite the ordeal

I was diagnosed with a cyst on December 2nd. After a US I found out that it's 11x9. I go in on Monday to see what kind it is but the doc thinks it's a dermoid or hemerrogic. I'm scared and confused. He also mentioned an ovary may need to be removed...looks like it's the left.
I would love to know if this is possible through laproscopic surgery at that size , and can my ovary be saved?
Any feedback would be much appreciated!

I've heard that the pain in the back and chest is caused by excessive gas. If the surgeon pumped you with gas to get a better look at the cyst/ovary during surgery, then that might very well be the case. But not sure 5 months later... Hope it goes away soon. I am scheduled this Monday to have a cyst (actually a teratoma tumor) and my left ovary removed. Sad to lose my ovary. :( My last scan was last October, 5 months ago, so I'm worried they'll get in there and the cyst will be gone and all for naught. (Good if it's gone, not good to be cut open for nothing.)
