I had laminectomy over a year ago. Was happy at first with progress after three months was close to what I thought would be a full recovery? I walked one mile a day and added an additional mile every week until I got to ten Miles! Then I felt some leg and back pain. this reduced my exercise about two miles Dailey, until I was only able to walk a couple miles and was have frequent increasing Pain!! I consulted with the surgeon and he recommended Fusion. It has been five months since fusion and more pain and numbness in left foot. Before surgery I had pain in right leg and weakness bad but, if I didn't do much slight pain? It was limited to the amount of walking on a day to day tolerable level 5-6. When I went into surgery the surgeon asked me where I was getting pain and marked my right Leg. After surgery I had numbness in the Left Leg? I consulted with the Surgeon and he told me not to worry? the next day I was woke up with severe pain in the left leg!!!! I can honestly say if this pain had not subsided I would not be writing this today! When my surgeon finally responded to my complaints of pain. I told him that he needed to fix me or kill me because their was not enough drugs in the world to stop this pain!!!!!!! I need Pain medications for sleeping at night! I can't walk any distance? I walk only what is necessary? The more I walk the worse it gets. Since Back Fusion I can't lay down on my Back for more than 4 hours without Pain! After 4 Hours I can get back to sleep sometimes by lying on my side and if I'm luck roll to my back and get a couple more hours? My physical therapist tells me that should be getting better and reality says I'm getting worse! The great news is disability insurance agrees with the average person should be fully recovered and they are threatening to stop paying me! If you do decide on Surgery good Luck! My Surgeon was the most highly rated Surgeon at Florida regional Hospital. Good Surgeon not good result!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am in the same boat,it has been 2 & 1\2 years since my 360 spinal fusion with 2 cages, rods 6 screws and a plate. I told them all they need to is put a saucer in there too! (Only trying to make a joke!)But anyway the numbness and pain are becoming more unbearable with each passing week and I have to the Dr. several times and all they do is give me more pills. I am so tired of it.The pain keeps me up most nites. I take Tylenol 3s,neurontin,ice and heat ,exercises, nothing helps. For the past month or so when I bend over, squat things of that sort, I have a horrific time trying to get up.Or I fall. So things are getting worse.Any help of what else I can do will be appreciated! I really don't want anymore surgery.

Wow, I thought I was the only one with that type of accident. Mine was car flipping over on 95 in Mass. My L1, L2, L3 shattered and compressed the spinal nerves so much so that I was paralyzed from the chest down. I too tired died several times... All my organs, but my heart and brain were disfunctional. I too had harrington rods implanted to raise the vertebrae back into place, because L1 & L2 slipped over L3. I too had surgery for L5/S1 later in life because of the disc disappeared and they put in a BAK system (cage and screws). My right leg has permanent nerve damage that constantly haunts me with pain. Because my gait is limped, I had to have both knees replaced. The doc told me that if I don't work out, I won't walk because the spine won't support my body anymore and my muscles have to do the major part of the support. Today, was really bad, so I went to the gym and worked out my legs. The workout doesn't get rid of the pain/numbness, but the workout definitely allows me walk.
I also take dr axe protein with my workouts, which has made a big difference with my body and pain.

Hey Lisa...I recently ( 2016 2017) had 3 surgeries to correct my very serious scoliosis. I have moderate numbness from the waist down but severe numbness from my left knee down to my foot. Cannot feel that area....maybe 95% loss. Has this LYRICA helped you??
