Could anyone please give me advice who has had a laparoscopy?

I had a lapraroscopy 4 months ago and ever since then I get very light brown spotting 5-10 days before my next period starts - then a normal red flow period for 5-6 days. I am trying to get pregnant and get very stressed when I see the spotting start not long after ovulation time. Has anyone had this or know what the brown spotting means. I am worried that the brown spotting is a lead up to the next period - so I feel I never have a chance of getting pregnant. I spoke to the surgeon who said there was no explanation for the spotting.

Any advice or similar stories would be greatly appreciated. Also I am having accupuncture to relieve stress - has anyone had any success stories with this?

I have had the same problem. I didn't make the connection to the laparoscopy until I read a few people who have had this bleeding after the laparoscopy. Mine is not every month, I may have a perfect 28 day cycle one month but the next I will have spotting starting around the ovulation day and lasting until my period starts. I have made an appointment with my OBGYN to see what is going on. Have you had any success since you last posted this? I am worried that it is a problem that is causing me to be infertile. Have been ttc for 8 months now.

I have had success in that the spotting has finally stopped - 6 months after the laparoscopy. so i think that it was definatley from the lap. I did call the surgeon (fertility doc) and ask him about the spotting and he wasn't concerned at all. My acupuncturist said he thinks it takes the body quite a while to get back 'to normal' after the lap. The spotting is very distressing though. What did your OBGYN (what is this an abreviation for) have to say about the spotting??

I had a hysteroscopy and laparoscopy on the 21st March following diagnosis last year of PCOS - the Surgeon drilled my ovaries but confirmed that my tubes and womb were in great condition with no blockages/endometriosis etc...I have taken myself off the clomid after 9 unsuccessful cycles purely because I was having no 'egg-white' secretions and I am well aware that clomid makes your secretions more acidic along with the lining of your womb. This is the second cycle, following the operation with no clomid and after sex last night, i had cramps and noticed brown discharge this morning. I am on around day 12 of cycle - what is causing this? I remember last year when I stopped ovulation and menstruation for around 6 months I had this random brown bleeding! Just wish someone would give us a break! TTC for 20 months now...wish us luck x

Hey there...

Im with all of you on this, because as reading your replys to the first question.. I have the same problem and thought that there must be something wrong with me.. I had a lap over 2 months ago and I have also been off the pill to give my body a break as my doc suggested. After having protected intercourse with my b/f, the condom broke and I had to get the morning after pill.. a week later I was bleeding very heavily and we were on our way to Sydney.. I was soo scared.. Went to my doc early in the morning as my period has never come off time at all!!! He said it was normal after the MAP... I stopped bleeding after 5 days and its been a week now and I just started bleeding lightly last night! Gosh! I really dont know why!! It is beginning to be a little too much.. So basically all month I have been bleeding! Is this bad for the body??

I have cramps along with the bleeding, but Im not due for my monthly untill next week....

Hope all goes well for everyone! And we all get peace soon.. God Bless you all!!!

I had a laparoscopy over 6 months ago and noticed that that I have spotting and cramping for the 1-1 1/2 weeks before my period is due. Then when I do get it- its really heavy for 2 days and that's it. Very abnormal for me. I've always been on time and predictable. This is specifically why I was surfing on the net for this topic. Nice to know I'm not the only one but still unanswered why this would be? I've made an appointment with my gyno to check it out. Anyone have any answers out there?

Hi All,
I had a laparoscopy to remove endometriosis a year ago and am still having that unusual spotting the week before my period is due. I've always been very regular so the spotting is odd. It was very light right after the laparoscopy, but has gotten heavier over the year. I've been to the gyno and a fertility clinic (I'm also trying to get pregnant) and they've had no idea what might be causing it. Finally someone thought of fibroids, so I have to go in soon and find out if that's the cause. I'll keep you posted.

Hi. It is pleasing and distressing to read the comments on this topic. I too have had a lap, and had also been on Clom...have gone off the latter after only two cycles as I thought this was what was causing the heavy brown spotting. It comes on in the week before my period. Feels like you're leaking and it is awful. Havin been TTC for 28 months now and I am exhausted from it all. Mentally that is (love the sex though!). Have been to specialists who say nothing wrong with either of us, but being 38 seems I don;t qualify for government assistance for IVF. Have friends having kids all around me. Is just not far and I certainly have days when all I seem to feel like doing is balling my eyes out. What solutions are there? I feel so hopeless....

I had a lap 2 months ago for endo......had terrible pain for 2 years, went through 3 doctors who told me that nothing was wrong with me. I have had abnormal spotting after my period until I ovulate. Has anyone had spotting then? My husband and I are trying to conceive now b/c of the endo...can't wait any longer. I read "Taking Charge of your Fertility" which is a great book. I didn't realize how clueless I was about my body. If you are trying to conceive, this book should help. Good luck everyone!

Hi, just wanted to say it worked the opposite way for me! I've been ttc for 15 months and had a lap 3 months ago. The doc removed 'severe endo' and a large endometrioma (chocolate cyst). I was used to having 2-3 days of heavy brown spotting before AF, but since the lap it's been red from CD1. Yay! Maybe it's a fluke, but it seems to me as if the lap fixed it for me :-)

Ladies I know how you feel. I had a laparoscopy two months ago, had my period twice last month and no period yet this month, been having cramps in my stomach and back but still waiting patiently for my period to come back to start drinking my clomid pills.

Hello all,

I have a laparoscopy two months ago where I had cysts, my cyst wall, endo, and scar tissue removed. My physician has now put me on Levora (sp) Birth Control and I don't have a cycle. After surgery I bleed heavy for 3 weeks and now I am having light reddish-brown spotting. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this? Since taking the birth control I haven't had any spotting or random bleeding until now and don't know if it is the Levora or reaction from the surgical procedure. I'm scared as heck!
