I am 59 years old and have not had a period for 5 yrs. For the past 6 months, I have been spotting for almose 3 weeks straight, then stopping and starting all over again, going from a brownish color to a bright red when wiping after urination. I have been to my gynocologist at least 4 times for 2 dnc's, and recently for a biopsy which all proved normal. She said that she notices blood when looking with the speculum. All she came up with is that it's a hormonal thing. Is this possible? I'm getting worried!
Also, I have been insulin dependant for the past 51 years and she does not want to put me on any hormone meds because these may increase blood glucose levels. I need help because I do not want to continue doing NOTHING about this. Any suggestions? Thanks much!

I am now 60 and take HRT (for 10 years). Two years ago, I started spotting ... long story short, I had an endometrial biopsy that revealed nothing. Now, it started again. Online I discovered that this might be normal for some people. It said, Age-related thinning of the vagina and thickening of the lining of the uterus (endometrial hyperplasia) are causes for spotting. It said the color could be yellow to brown to blood stained.
Initially, I thought it might be the HRT pills, but the OBGYN said it was not. I do believe it's a hormonal thing. If you are under stress, I believe that plays into this too.
