I am in week 5 post severe bunion and hammertoe surgery.  My bones are healed, but my foot is still swelled. Today is 11/21, and my surgeon says I will be walking wihout crutches into his office for my next appt. on 12/3.  I  need to get back to part of my job that will not allow me in the facility on any assisted device by 12/1. I walked around the grocery store today SLOWLY with crutches--crutches step step--When I got home my foot was swelled up again.  I also ended up with a blood clot  in my calf due to inactivity, and my primary physician says it was due to inactivity--he exact opposite of me.  It is nerve wracking to think of losing my crutches, and I will not take my knee scooter with me anymore, and am lucky to have this week off of work so I can sleep in, do upper body in the gym, get some appointments taken care of, and practice walking.  I know it will take some to get rid of my "sea legs", and I know half of it is mental...so I want to focus on what to do to get walking on my own again.  My question is...what helped anyone to walk agajn in a week's time?
