I am going to have surgery on my right foot for both Mortin's Neuroma and a bunion. The nuerom is the most painful and I have been limping around for months because of it.
My doctor told me I will have to stay completely off of that foot for a total of three weeks (either using a scooter, crutches or a wheel chair) and then slowly add 10 pound increments of weight every week after. He said staying off of my foot entirely for that three weeks is for the neuroma (not the bunion) and will allow it to heal properly.
Is this standard treament? Out of all the things i have read - I have not read anything that describes that sort of recovery period.

Having surgey on the 23rd of February, 2007 and the doctor said 6 weeks of total non-weight bearing. I have multiplr sclerosi and poor balance so I'll be challenged. Can't handle crutches so will use a walker with a seat like a scooter, kneeling on the seat! Foot has been painful I'll just pray for quick and total healing....
