I am the second male that I see to respond......I am 48 years old in pretty good health and am also getting the flutters and also a dull pain that flares up and subsides immediately to the right of the fluttering area(right below my ribs on the left side)........I have a family history of ulcers but have not been diagnosed with that as of now.

It's a muscle spasm, like when your eye twitches when you're tired or haven't drank enough water.

Oh thank God I'm not going insane. I am 31. I have a (almost) 5 year old and a (almost) 4 year old. I had a tubal after the delivery of my second child. I have had regular periods. For the past two to three months I keep having a fluttering sensation on the upper left side of my abdomen. It feels the same as when I was pregnant and the baby would kick. My husband even felt it today. It's totally freaking me out.

To anyone still having these FLUTTERS in the tummy area - especially within a couple years of having a baby -
GET YOUR THYROID CHECKED!!!
Many women have or get thyroid imbalances during pregnancy, and then after pregnancy. Has something to do with all the hormones. This can lead to real problems, ongoing problems.
This was brought up in another post on this forum about tummy flutters, and it's worth mentioning here.
Having your Thyroid levels checked is a really easy & fairly cheap blood test. ASK for it!

So glad to have found other mums with these symptoms. I had may baby 5 months ago via c section and was back in surgery 4 hours after the birth with a hematoma. I was cut open twice and recovery has been rough. The last few weeks I have experienced what feels like movements in my stomach. I think it's the muscles twitching and possibly nerves causing the sensation. I really dont think its anything to be concerned about. A c section is major abdominal surgery that cuts through skin, muscles and nerves. My ob has said that the skin only grows a mm a day, so very slow. I think because you can't feel anything for so long, it feels very strange and is more noticeable now.
