I am 28 years old and had a baby by c-section 5 months ago. The last week or so I am getting constant fluttering in my lower left abdomen. I am on the pill so I don't think I am pregnant. What else could it be?

Hi, I have recently been feeling similar symptoms. I had my second child by C-Section (as well as my first) almost 8 months ago. For the last month or so I have been feeling like something is moving all around in my stomach mostly lower left abdomen stomach area. I first thought that it was excess gas but I am not overly gassy of any sort. There doesn't seem to be any other symptoms other that the annoying bumping/moving/twinging feelings. The closest thing to it I would say is feeling a fetus moving around at about 6-7 months when it is big enough to actually bump into my stomach. It is becoming increasingly annoying. I hope there is someone out there that can offer some advice.

hi, at least I'm not crazy. i've been feeling this annoying sensation also for about a month, and i don't have the slightest idea what it could be. i have no pain of any sort, just this fluttering and quivering going on. i thought that it was my heart and was hooked up to the heart monitor in the er room, blood drawn and pregnancy test taken and everything is normal. it's scary. if anyone has a professional medical answer for what
this could be please let us know. i realize after reading this forum, i'm not alone.

I had surgery in Aug 2007...Recently, I've started having the same type of symptom...like there's a baby moving around. Of course this is impossible since my reason for surgery was to have a hysterectomy. It's nice to know that I'm not alone....seems that we all have another thing in common....abdominal surgery of some sort. Did anyone every hear from an expert w/ possibilities of what could be going on? If so, please let me know...

actually, I used to get that. It was an unrelated thing though... I used to get proper flipping feelings, it was however trapped wind, but I would get it round my period as for some reason i used to suffer that a lot at that time of the month. i also had adhesion between my stomache and gut (but i dont think that is relevant) and polycystic ovaries (wouldnt think its relevant). Could just try out something for wind. With me, anything containing Semeticon worked the best. In the UK, that would be Windeze. In Germany Lefax, the German one is even better cos it has peppermint in too...

Thank God for the internet. I was starting to think I was nuts. I had 3 c-sections. Last one 2 years ago. I didn't think it was gas, it's crazy, like a baby is moving in there. And when I lay down, it looks like a baby kicking sometime. If anyone knows what it is, let me know, I 've had it over a week now.

I am 28 yrs old, I had a c-section 3 yrs ago and have been feeling the fluttering/muscle spasms in my abdomen since a few months after surgery. I've asked all the women I know who's had similar surgery if they've experienced the same feelings. Most of them agreed and said that they think that it's my muscles reconstructing. But I'm thinking that this process should be completed by 3 years. I'm afraid to go to the doctor for fear that they may think that I'm crazy or that I'm imagining this feeling. I too want answers and resolution. My cycle has been regular and I haven't had any symptoms of pregnancy. It tends to be more rapid and occurs more when my cycle is about to start. I was afraid that it may be my ovaries because my family has a history of ovarian cysts that lead to a partial or complete hysterectomy. If anyone can help or tell me (us) what it is that would be relieving and excellent.

Hello, OMG, I thought maybe I should ck online to see if I am not alone and thank God I am not! I had abdomen surgery April 2008 to remove a tumor in my pancreas and of course the tail end was removed as well as my spleen. I thought what the heck is this movement like I am pregnant and I no longer can get pregnant. I went through CT scans, and Endoscopic procedure and they could not find anything wrong. I am still going through this movement, sucking in, flipping, turning movement and it drives me crazy. The doctor told me to work out to tighten my stomach....which I started to do but I guess not enough because it is not going away. I wonder how long this is going to last or do I have to live with it the rest of my life? So friggin annoying....I hope to find someone that will say it goes away! Happy New Year! >:(

Hi, OMG; I thought it was just me. I'm glad I came into this website to research. I have been getting fluttering feelings that feel exactly like a baby moving around at 7-9 months. This just started 2 days ago, however, I have had it before. I do have 2 children, the youngest almost 5 years old, though a week after having my daughter I had an emergency Hysterectomy; not sure if any of this relates to why this happens. I though about calling the doctor but felt they might think I was nuts. I wish someone would have an actual answer that was provided by a doctor just to give me an idea of what it might be and/or whether or not it's something to worry about. %-)

I have the fluttering feeling in my stomach too for years. Sometimes I can pull up my shirt and actually see my stomach twitching as if there is a baby inside kicking out. If I change my position, sometimes it stops but I find it so interesting.
At first, I wondered if it was parasitic in nature and perhaps it was a tapeworm or something awful, but I have had no other problems related to that idea.
It almost feels like a muscle or nerve twitch. I have had three children, all vaginally delivered, no complications. I dont notice that I have increased gas or the "winds". There is no pain with this, just a familiar feeling from when I was pregnant.
I never had this until AFTER I had children. This was not something I ever experienced before. But maybe I only recognize it now BECAUSE I carried children.
I have always had bowel issues, IBS and the like. But it never is painful, only surprising.
Maybe we are all getting ready to hatch aliens. :-) Just kidding.
I would like to know what it is, whether it is muscular related or nerve related. Sometimes pinched nerves in the spine can cause issues, have all of you had epidurals? Maybe that is related somehow?

I'm glad I ran across this forum. I've been having muscle spasms in the lower left side of my stomach. I'm 27, I don't have any kids but recently a cyst was found on my ovaries. I wonder if this is related. I will be going to the doctor very soon.

As everyone else has said on here, I thought I was crazy. I just turned twenty two weeks ago and for the past 5-6 months I have felt muscle spasms/fluttering in my stomach. I have not had any kids like the people before me, actually I have never even had sex. But just because I panic because from what I could imagine it feels like a baby kicking and moving around, I have taken two pregnancy tests and they have both been negative. My periods have been regular. I do have endometreosis. But I have also had these weird dreams that will wake me up with stomach spasms. Those spasms are really intense and hurt and only last maybe 10 seconds. My stomach though has not got any bigger, and I have not gained any weight. I have always had a round stomach that sticks out like a pregnant womans, but if anything I have lost weight. So if anyone has read all of this (i know i have written a lot), could they please help me out.

I've been browsing the internet for these symptoms as well. The lower left of my abdomen, just below the ribcage, continues to spasm 8-10 times a day. Especially when lying on my left side or eating a lot and filling up my stomach.
I'm the only post so far that isn't female though. I'm male, so no pregnancy involved.
The doc ordered an ultrasound of the area, but the ultrasound tech said there is nothing in that part of the abdomen that even shows up on an ultrasound! That was a nice waste of money :-(
