I have for about 10 years been going through feeling so panic and anxiety attacks due to my stomach..It always feels full and bloated anytime I eat especially certain foods wheat, greasy, and alcohol makes it a huge mess. I experience shortness of breath a lot and feels like there is a brick in my stomach it can causes gases to back up can give me palpitations and I'm so hungry but cant eat alot of food or my stomach goes nuts..I'm on 40 to 80 mg of pantaloc a day!!I get hot flashes a lot but there starting to get better as I control the food I eat more..The only thing on here I don't see is well I get heart racing from time to time and once I take a pantoloc it settles it down right away....I feel the fullness and bloating on my left side all the time and tight clothes bother it and exercise or lifting things. but my doctor said he thinks I'm to young for a hiatus hernia I'm 32...If I sleep sitting up I feel better.I can't lay down after I eat or my stomach goes nuts and i will wake up and my hear is racing like crazy!!!Sitting after I eat bothers me to..I can only ever eat small amounts...All these feelings cause me to have anxiety attacks all the time so I'm on ativan when needed it is an anti anxiety meds..Stress makes it worse and being upset...My stomach sticks out a bit on my left side to as well and its always bloated and feels full on the left side below my rib cage...
There just starting to check now for celiac disease and so on but my doc said probably not a hernia to young...The shortness of breath is the worst part and causes me to have anxiety attacks...What do they do for hernia's

So sorry to hear what you & others are going thru. I've manifested several of these symptoms myself. The stomach-related issues that I go thru are related to having too much or not enough thyroid. Many doctors will tell us that our Thyroid labs are fine but they really aren't. I say this because my doc said my levels were fine & to just ignore my symptoms. I changed to a doc that was a thyroid specialist & he gave me thyroid medicine, but not just any thyroid medicine because they're not all the same. It is important to take a thyroid medicine that has both T4 & more importantly T3. Why? Because T4 is inactive & the body converts it to an active form of thyroid known as T3. It is T3 that actually gets into the body's cells & not T4. So if a doc tells you that your T4 is just fine or they don't bother testing T3, then it's time to find someone else or they are open-minded & listen to you then try explaining to them the difference after you've done your research & educated yourself.
The breathing trouble you are experiencing I've had as well. I didn't realize it, but it started as soon as I was placed on hypertension medicine. I was placed on a new hypertension regiment & woke up in the middle of the night suffocating & unable to breath thru one of my nostrils & my throat felt a little full. It was phlegm in my case. This was as a direct result of my hypertension medicine. I also briefly thought that I would feel better eating my gun as my symptoms would be gone. This wasn't suicidal thinking but impaired thinking. This too was an adverse reaction to my hypertension meds. I stopped both of my hypertension meds & voila! I could breath again & thinking straight too. My bp meds also caused dehydration. I also suffer from a swollen tongue too but no clue as to the cause. My guess is inflammation. I used to be dependent on Nexium until I found a doc to prescribe a T4/T3 med. Thyroid also got me off of bp for the most part, but docs still want me to take bp just in case.
When my thyroid is high I get diarrhea, heart rate above 100 & increased blood pressure too. I would suggest to anyone that you find an expert endocrinologist & do a full hormone panel. Don't depend on a diabetes specialist either because they are first a diabetes specialist & then hormones. Get a hormone specialist that all they do is hormones. Ask any potential new endo what thyroid medicine they prescribe. If they say something w/ T4 & T3 then you might have a good one. Most doctors prescribe meds w/ only T4 as that is the "popular" prescription now-a-days. GL everyone.
All of these issues is because of a not so simple bump in the head from a car accident.

The week after the accident I spent all my time in bed to heal from it, and after I got better from resting I had felt tightness in my left side underneath my ribcage along with a general pain all over the stomach from bruising from falling flat on my gut. (which went away after resting)
The first poo I did came with blood and I felt tired dizzy after that but since that time no bloody stools anymore.
My theory is that whenever food goes down my stomach and aggravates the scar tissue it may not go down smoothly and this rubbing against the scar may cause inflammation which leads to my stomach swelling up because that tissue is sensitive to the touch/tender, and this causes the swelling and blocking of food so I feel full. When I feel full I don't get the right amount of food going down and then I get tired and lose weight sudddenly.
Sometimes I get air/gas building up in my gut so that I feel like burping or passing wind and if I don't burp or pass the wind I feel like my gut pushes up into my chest area and puts pressure on my lungs which causes me to have shortness of breath.
This is when I get scared as I feel faint during these times and weak. I have to lie down or do something to relieve this. Something as simple as moving around or walking might help or just standing up. Sitting up slouched in a particular way may worsen or lessen the problem, sometimes having my face planted forward down toward my lap like I'm diving into a pool can help, or lying backward more in a couch can help, but I do notice that sitting up normally straight up can worsen my breathing.
I'm sharing my experiences with you to let you know what others like myself feel. Perhaps you might have had it caused from an accident? If you have anyone who has experienced something similar; where damage from injury due to sport or accident resulted in these complications? I would be interested in hearing about this, because I believe my particular problem is related to something I did in a bicycle accident years ago. Thanks.

I am having similiar symptoms. I too had a large meal one afternoon about 4 months ago and woke up with difficulty breathing. I went to the ER and had the normal barrage of tests done. To date I feel like I have to constantly yawn, and sometimes I can't get it right which makes me panic a little, I get a knot feeling after eating certain foods in my sternum area, and abd pain. I do have IBS, and I know that casues some issues. For people having the breathing issue, I found just sitting back, closing my mouth and brething through my nose helps me control the airflow better, and reduce yawning.
EKG = normal
Echo = normal
PFT = normal
Head MRI = normal
Blood and Lipid = normal
Upper Ab Ultrasound = normal
Thyroid = Hyper/hypo (only slightly out of range)
Gastro has scheduled me for a endoscopy and colonoscopy next week, so I should find out something then. Will post back.

I too have faced the same problem and it is certainly because of stomach problem -- in noght when you sleep the acid gets formed within the stomach and it comes up and creates this problem.
Consult a good doctor because if you go on changing doctors they might give you wrong medicines taking it to be throat problem but it actually is the stomach problem.
I have been through this for months and i use to get the same probelm at night .. i will not be able to explain what all di i went through because of wrong medicines and this stomach problem but if any other query you have then ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use
