Hi, my brother had a stroke and he is only 42. He is not leading a healthy life and doesn’t have good habits but he wouldn’t listen to anyone. Even after recovering, he is not willing to change his behaviour. How can I have some influence on him?

Hi, I suppose that your brother is being very afraid for his health and his own life, just like anybody else. But, he deals with it in his own way, by not excepting the problem and continuing his life without possibility to change his former habits. These people usually say, “ I’ll live as long as I live but at least I will enjoy my life”. Perhaps, if you arrange him to meet someone who has different diet as before stroke it will arise his attention and make him aware that people live even without hamburgers and pizzas, with bunch of salads and fresh fruit. Or he could join a group for stroke recovery and visit week meetings to discuss over consequences of stroke with other stroke survivors.
