Hi Kourte. As your post was over a year old, I doubt the question is still worrying you. But I thought I would add the answer, just for the sake of posterity - any future readers coming across this. Many of the comments in this thread are describing the same phenomenon: google up "occipital neuralgia"

http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/neurology_neurosurgery/specialty_areas/headache/conditions/occipital_neuralgia.html

The occipital nerve comes out of the spine at the top, back of the neck. It can get annoyed for "who knows why" reasons, and respond in a sharp, electric shock-like jolt that lasts just a second each time (sometimes repeating for a while). The nerve can also transmit temperature; hence the hot, wet kind of feeling you describe. One would feel it towards the back of the scalp, on one side only, also towards the ear on that side, and can extend upwards to as large as 1/4 of the scalp.

That's all there is. It's not dangerous. It's mostly deemed "idiopathic," it doesn't come from the brain, but from the neck. It can be blocked temporarily with local anesthetic injections to confirm the diagnosis, but I doubt it is worthwhile to investigate. It's just a quirk of the body that happens. I've personally seen it described in three people I know casually (I'm not in the health care field) so I don't think it is as uncommon as literature claims.

Does anyone out there experience ALMOST the same symptoms but with pain sometimes more toward the temples. Sometimes mine is toward the back and at the base of the skull but sometimes at the temple. And this has just started happening in the last few days. And I'm a 62-year-old fairly active woman. No blood pressure changes that I know of. Am I about to have a stroke?

I am also suffering from sinus headache. By heating painful side of head, forehead, backside of ear by hot-water [in closed metallic or plastic container] with a gentle message helped me a lot from recovering. People with the same symptom can try this.

Similar thing happens to me, I cannot recall how oftern it happens because it comes at random moments. At first it happens when I quickly bent my head down, or turn my head around but now its happen even with the smallest slightest movement of my head I can feel the pain. It doesnt last long maybe a few seconds tops, but it has been worrying me because its happening more frequent now. I will keep looking up the reason why this is happening, and I will be back when I find the answer. This has just happened to me this year.

I have these exact headaches as well and it always begins with an abrupt head turn followed by intense pain in the back of my head lasting less than a minute. The only explaination I've seen is partial seizures due to frontal or temporal lobe epilepsy. Hope this helps.

I have a sharp pain on the left side of my head when I move quickly but it doesn't happen every time I move my head just a handful of times throughout the day. This has been happening the past few days and happening more often as time progresses.

Lately I have experienced head pains toward the back of my head with rapid motions i.e. exercising. Does anyone know what the potential cause is?

Hey can you tell me if you ever figured out what was wrong with your head because I'm having the same pain like exactly as you described ?

This exact thing happens to me all the time! I doubt it has anything to do with illness or injuries, but I think it could be sensitivity in the head region. It usually happens to me when I exercise. It is probably just an age thing.

I have the same issue and it seemed to have started when I just started the skinny bunny weight loss products. It's the am /pm tablets. So see if one of the ingredients in there is similar to the one you started taking.
