Swelling, Indegestion and Methadone

when u say u used opiates what drug r u talking about??I have been using Nubain for years and i have noticed I have been gaining weight and feel the ankles swollen once in a while?? I relate to u in ur post. i want to stop talking the nubbin but i am having a hard time. My question is does Nubain cause the water retention???Casablanca

its simply diet and exercise   i have the same deal been on the juice for 6 years and it gives u your life back but u have to stay busy and control your diet!!!

I have been on methadone for six months. 90 mg a day and i wake up with numbing swollen hands. I have gained 35 pounds of water weight.i was drinking coffee and taking diurectics. Caffeine acts as a natural diuretic but its not enough so i bought pamadron which is sold otc.i had alot of relief in my hands but no weight loss.i am now gonna start weaning off this c**p.the only down side is its the only medicine that worked on my chronic neck and ack pain

I started on methadone a year and a half ago and I was at one clinic for 6 mths and the first week I transfered to another clinic I gained 9 pounds a week for 8 weeks! It depends on the type of md you are on! Typically the pills wont make you gain but the sugar free liquid does quickly! I got off for 9 days and It wasnt bad at all as long as you take little pieces of 10mg norcos for 3 days then take suboxone 3rd day, the problem is I hate subs cz they make me speedy and I cant sleep so this time around Im taking subutex and its a miracle pill! Side effects are weight loss! yeah! Girls buy a girldle cz your going to have to wear it to get your body bk to where it used to be! I went from weighing 125 to 220! No drug in the world is worth that! I didnt even weigh near that when I was pregnant. Also after one week off md I lost 20lb cz I was peeing like a racehorse!!!!!!!!! Good luck!!!!!!! God speed!! ihave the same problem ive been on methadone maintnance about 7 times ans everytime i get back on i get this numbing painful,on half my hand were it curves half my finger,i have to get up and walk around half asleep just so the pain will stop.

Im 35 and also on methadone,I'm going to tell you what my doctor told me exactly. he said every 6 months you should have an EK G DUP for those that have been on methadone and are on methadone. also he makes me have my kidneys and liver checked every 6 months. please have this done and please take care of yourself.

FYI: I am not on methadone treatment, but have a friend who gave me a few of their methadone pills (10 mil.) for some pain I was having. In the days following my taking the methadone (dose was approx. 3-4 pills or 30-40 mil.), I got extreme bilateral swelling in legs/ankles/feet and swelling in my left hand to the point that I had carpal tunnel like feelings in my hand and up my arm (burning/fallen-asleep like feeling). THIS WAS DEFINITELY CAUSED BY METHADONE I TOOK. I am a relatively healthy, 55 yr. old female who suffers from arthritis pain in my hands & ankles. I did not tell my doctor that I took the methadone as I did not think it was a big deal at the time (really stupid of me). I had all sorts of testing done to find out what was causing the edema I was experiencing. All the tests came back negative for any issues. I don't take any medication on a regular basis for any health issues - ONLY Ibuprofin (sp.?) occasionally for arthritis pain. In my mind, the only thing different I had done just prior to getting the edema was taking methadone that was not prescribed for me. So, if anyone tells you that Methadone does not cause this side-effect (edema), be sure to seek out a second opinion as they are VERY wrong!!!

I'm going thru the same thing ! U must get off the methadone you could die ! Iam try sub ozone ! I'm looking around I'm upset but I have 25 side effects !! 5 are under serious my heart is the one scares me & my breathing ! Please don't risk your life ! People have died !

I am so glad I came across this site. I am on 70 MG a day and I have gained weight but then I too started swelling in my feet now my legs and hands. I was given retention pills but that landed me in the hospital because of severe constipation due to the methodone which causes it but the water pills made it 10x worse by removing the fluids in my bowels. My Dr told me that it's in my head and he doesn't see methodone causing my problems that I never had till I started in Dec 2013. Yet everyone who looks at me says it's water weight so bad my feet look like I'm pregnant. I also have been having weird heart palpation once I thought it was a stroke I had dizziness and pain in my arm and chest. I went to my doctor again he said it was my fault that I might have water in my ears but I know it's the methodone. My Dr also made me sign a form stating that he is my only Dr and I can not be treated by any other Dr's. Has anyone ever heard of such a form? I really want to get off the methodone I'm 37 no children and feel that this medication is really causing health problems that are causing great pain and discomfort I have pain in my joints, my face which was clear all my life is developing a rash on my cheek that never goes away,severe dry skin, constipation, dizziness so bad I can't walk, swelling in my ankles now my calves and hands really my entire body. Sharp pain has started in my calves recently. As for this form which I never got a copy stating that this Dr. Is my main family Dr (I had a Dr for 20 yrs who is great he just didn't dispense methodone) I was told by the Dr at the emergency room that I should have blood work and monitored for the water pills but, my Dr only cares for the urine being clean for the methodone program. I would like to know my legal obligations I want off he refuses to cut down my dose only after 4 or 5 times of each time it's now at 70mg. Sorry this is long I am just stuck and really depressed I went for help and it seems like I'm told it's in my head and I'm scared to just stop because of getting sick. This is the first time I been on this straight for 1 year and 8 months. I asked for codeine and Valium for my addiction to pain medication (hydro morphine 24) the Dr gave me 1 codeine pill 1 Valium (10mg) of course I'm still laying there sick that when I was told I had to go on methodone thinking it was a 10 day detox. Yet I stayed on thinking I get Monitored for an out of hospital program.now I feel the Dr wants me on it just for money. The Dr who gave pills out to everyone in my town gets caught now has everyone on methodone no lie small country town I can't even get into a detox to get off this c**p.

I live in Canada.I have been on methodone now for almost 2 years in December 2013 I started. I received fluid retention pills and they did not work. Not only that I began to have severe back pain so bad I went to the emergency room. Only to find out by a Dr who assisted me told me mixing methodone and fluid retention pills causes more problems. Methodone causes constipation and with fluid pills draining your body will cause your bowels to also loose water them your left with compacted fecal matter. I honestly thought I had a kidney infection . I need legal advise about trying to lower my doses to get off the methodone but my Dr refuses lower the dose or blood work or giving me other tests to check my body for the issues I'm having. He also made me sign a form stating he is my family doctor and I can not see anyone else. I had a family Dr who never heard if this form for 1 Dr. He was my doctor for over 20 years I'm 37yrs old I moved to Canada at 16 yrs old. I have asked for medical treatment and I'm refused such as blood work for diabetes, a colon check to find out why constipation is so severe. I have stroke symptoms and my Dr denies it even though he did not check me. Basically I want to know what my rights are. Who do I contact to get help with this Dr not treating me yet has black listed me from any other Dr from seeing me. I understand about double Dr for narcotics pain pills that's a reason to have 1 Dr. But pharmacies have machine to monitor thar sad part no one has an answer about lower my doses if I request or checking my health. If I feel a Dr is not providing me the care I need I should be able to seek a second opinion and if u want to stop a medication I asked for detox but I feel I'm forced to take medicine that is making me sicker.

I am on methadone also I take 135mg a day for 5 years now. and I cant keep my eyes open. I feel depressed and my heart flutters badly at times. And have severe chest pains. My ankles, knees, thighs, and stomach are swollen to the point where I can't even where shoes. I have gained a lot of weight and stay constipated.

Please listen to me my husband just died from adverse side effects from methadone. . He had every symptom you guys are describing. . The clinic doesn't tell you anything. . After getting off it it can stay in your fatty tissue for years. You must ask questions and must investigate side effects on your own. . Talk to other doctors besides clinic ones they just want your money. .. It s the most dangerous drug out there. .. Get help please. ..please you life is worth saving.
