I have been running a low grade temp for almost two weeks and now I have very sore swollen red cracked  horizontally tongue.  It started out feeling like thrush but my lungs dr said it was not thrush.  That I have had many times and this didn't look like it but did burn like the thrush but much worse.. I started with one ulcerated hole in middle of the middle fat part of tongue and had two horizontal slit places behind the ulcer now have several of the slit places and the whole tongue is bright red and is starting down my throat. I am 64.yr old white female. I have extremely dry mouth and eyes. I am on pain meds. For arthritis. My two granddaughters had strep last week but this does not look like any strep I have ever seen.
