I have some of the symptoms for herpes but i have not had sex before. I have about 2 painful sores in my vagina that just recently appeared. Any clue as to what this could be?

Hi there! Genital skin problems are very common. Many skin conditions result in itching. Itch is commonly due to dermatitis (eczema). The types of dermatitis most often affecting the genitals are: Lichen simplex (localized itch-scratch-itch response), Atopic dermatitis (widespread familial tendency), Seborrhoeic dermatitis (usually affects scalp as well), Irritant contact dermatitis (from wetness, incontinence, vigorous cleansing), Allergic contact dermatitis (most often due to perfumes or rubber). Other skin conditions causing genital itch include: Psoriasis (persistent red scaly or moist patches), Lichen sclerosus (white scarred patches), Lichen planus. It doesn’t have to be genital herpes. So you should get it checked by your gynecologist. Better safe than sorry!
