Hi. Im 15 and have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, which was about 8 years ago. I have thoroughly researched my condition for many years and out of all the research I've done, there seems to be numerous studies which state that the majority of diabetics will die of complications and are at a increased risk for certain types of cancers. I asked my Doctor, "what was the point of controlling my Diabetes if i'm bound to encounter complications due to it". She then replied, "you can always delay that, that's what my job is- to control your illness and delay the complications you are destined to face, unless a cure comes prior to that encounter." My question is, will controlling my disease, eg. (HBA1C, Blood glucose levels) only delay the inevitable complications which will ultimately lead to my demise?. I currently have a HBA1C of 10.5%, which puts me in a predicament of having to lower it- How long could i live if my HBA1C were to stay constant between 10% to 13%?. Death is unprecedented for some and many don't ponder upon it until they leave the life of a juvenile as time proceeds further. I try to blend in with others whilst putting an effort to conceal what i really am. Realizing that conformity is the enemy of freedom, I am ready to listen to any suggestions or answers which will potentially ameliorate my understanding of this uncertainty embedded within me. Many Thanks- IWINTWIN
