My Mom was diagnosed with a condition that caffeine make her breast have sharp shooting pains, something like fibrosis or something like that, well I have just recently started having the same sharp stabbing pains in my right breast like everyone on here, Its a little worse in the evening and morning but have noticed it is when I have consumed more caffeine than usual. I think I will go back to caffeine free drinks and water, it makes me feel better. maybe this can help someone else, try it,it can't hurt.

I recently turned 24 years old. I am having the same sharp pain in my left breast only, but the pain only lasts about 30 sec-1 min and then is followed by a numb (almost cold) feeling in the same area. Is this normal?

You are crazy if you felt that their post wasn't important. Someone, could have been you, previously offered the name of a condition that they referred to as CANCER, so a medical professional corrected that, so that someone wouldn't run around scared to death thinking about possibly having cancer. I applaud them for correcting that person's misinformation! The only DUMB post that I see here is YOURS! You are on a message board demanding medical attention?? What you need is a doctor and since you are ignoring posts by medical professionals, I would think that simply getting off of your butt and going to one would do the trick!
What a joke!

I dont feel im going to delete the above information even though we have had a complaint. But can everyone please remember that this is a site for everyone, from every walk of life. We are not medical people. We are people who have had personal experiences in medical issues.
We come on here to ask people if they have had the same thing happen to them an in doing so we gain a bit more information on our worries.
This then helps us to decide if we need to seek proffessional (Your own family doctor) medical help or not.
Please remember too , theres a lot of people who for what ever reason, really dont like going to doctors. An thats their choice. But hopefully we can talk to these people in a kind an friendly mannor an help them make the right decission for them. Thank you

A fibroadenoma is NOT, NOT, NOT a breast cancer. It is a benign nodule. I am a healthcare provider and would strongly recommend you get your facts straight before posting.
Just like any health care provider, you started generalizing things, but never gave anything worth listening to. I've read this entire thread, and nobody seems to have the answer to the pain that I am having in my life. For all the readers out there that NEED THIS QUESTION ANSWERED, quit correcting people, and post an answer. Thousands of people might be referred to this thread via googling their condition, and they come to find some stupid health care person correcting someone. If anybody can find someone that can help people like me that googled for support, please, find a doctor and get them on here so I can stop reading dumb posts like the one I quoted.
Thanks.

I'm 22 and I've experienced the same symptoms that many, many of you have posted. I have seen my OB/GYN, regular family Dr., kinesiologist, and chiropractor about this issue. Here are some tips that I've found helpful for short shooting pain near the nipples, closer to the armpits, random... I'm sorry but I don't know WHY it happens, I just hope you get some relief from this.
I usually get it from sleeping on my stomach OR on my side (and I 'compress' my brests overnight. Most of the time it's around my cycle (b.c. of birth control).
Drink filtered water, 4-6 tall glasses a day is decent. Reduce dairy intake. Reduce alcohol intake (alcohol affects breast health). Eat fresh fruits and veggies.
Massage your chest with your index and middle finger, make sure they are flat. Don't press too hard, breast tissue is very sensitive. Always work one inch at a time starting closer to the axillary region (armpits) working your way toward the sternum (middle of your chest) from top to bottom. Go all the way around to where you started. Once you find the center of the pain, gently massage it with one finger in a small circle, then with your whole palm gently push upwards. Do this for about 8-10 mins. Use oil or lotion. Drink water afterwards.
Hot showers help. Sleep on your back.
Supplements: IODINE; Start taking small doses (pills) of selenium because you need that for the iodine to work. Iodine is very good for breast health. Once you've taken selenium for about a month, start taking small doses of iodine...
Mix one teaspoon of sea salt (organic pref*) with as much water as you want, drink it all at once, this will help detoxify...
I'm a firm believer in alternative medicine, so I say try it before you cross it off your list.

I am 30 years old. I do from time to time get the sharp shooting pains that start from my nipple(right breast). But now I'm having terrible & constant pain in my right breast. The majority of the pain is encircling my breast and is the most severe on either side, by my sternum and then on the axillary side. I am also having pain in my back as if it's shooting straight through from my breast.
Is anyone else having two different kinds of pain? And could this be caused by the same thing, such as the hormones following menstrual cycle?
I do have a very healthy diet, I don't drink caffeine, and I supplement; so I think my problem is probably not caused by those things?

just started having this pain 4/5 days ago. Right breast as well. (Seems that with most above posters, it's right breast for some reason?)
First started in bed after having turned over to my left side, which made me think I might've squashed the poor girl a bit. But then it happened out of nowhere, at work, while bending over. And again, laying in bed, out of nowhere, without having turned. Ive felt my breasts for possible lumps, but nothing that I can find. And what I find bizarre?
Same here. makes one think it'd be a muscle somehow?
I didn't do ANY physical work that could cause it to be muscleache.
Last night I lightly touched my breast and boy, did it ever take my breath away again, I thought I was going to pass out with that one.
I'll go see my doc on tuesday about this. No way though I want them to squeeze me between that darn Xray machine. What if I pass out while my girl's stuck in there? brr. Hope ultrasound's an option.
Spoke with a friend about this yesterday. She said about breast-cancer (which obviously everybody thinks about with a thing like this), is that the nasty thing about that, is that one NEVER feels anything wrong. Which is why thats so creepy. So, let's hope this pain has a clear cause that's nothing and can be remedied.
oh yeah, and I described the pain to my husband like a sliver, a piece of glass in your finger, and what you feel when you touch that. Sharp sharp sharp. Naaasty.
I don't understand what cafeine has to do with breasts, at all. I only drink it in the morning. I want to know what causes this, just not eating certain thngs doesn't explain *it*. I want to know what is there, blocked gland? What?
at first I thought I was imagining things, but now after nearly a week, I know I'm not. Doc after the weekend fo'shore!!

Add this almost-40-year-old to the list of similar symptoms! I just started having a sharp shooting pain in my left breast at night that literally made me yell "OUCH"!...like a knife almost in the side close to the armpit and it lasts about 30 seconds - 1 minute on and off. I feel much better knowing so many others have this issue as well so thanks for posting everyone! :-)

I am 32 and my right breast has been sore for a couple of weeks..thismorning it started shooting sharp pains from deep from the center. It happens every 30 seconds to every couple minutes, and is a lot worse when I bend over...I drink a lot of coke, but I always have...I don't have insurance either....but it hurts, so I'm going. I'll post again with my results.

For the first time I just got the breast pain in my right breast that everyone is talking about. I had just taken a couple of excedrin extra strength a few minutes before. The pain started when I went to lay down to go to bed. I know it has caffeine in it maybe that cause pain but I have been taken excedrin for years for Migraines and never had this pain before. The pain was scary that why I googled it I was glad to see other also had it.

I too have had this pain in my right breast, but yesterday also had it in my left breast. When i mentioned this pain to the doctor - not my regular doctor - HE looked at me as if i was from another planet!! I am currently being treated for a chest infection/bronchitis and the nurse at the clinic where i had blood taken told me i was a bit dehydrated. Will wait for the results of the blood tests. Somehow i think i will get a second opinion!

About a month ago I noticed my right breast had swelled noticeably larger than the left - I'm 34, on BC pills, and they have always been the same size previously. I went to internist, she didn't seem too concerned, but had me schedule a mammo and ultrasound, which I'm now waiting two weeks to get in for. Previously it was painless but then yesterday I started getting the sharp shooting pains others have mentioned. Mine seem to come from the middle of the top of the breast straight to the nipple.
I do have fibrocystic disease (everything in my breasts feels like a lump - easily half of all women have this condition to some degree) and there is a definite correlation between caffiene and the prominence of the cysts. Reducing caffiene intake, along with alcohol, and staying well hydrated will help you to not retain water and may reduce pain. Also watch your estrogen intake, including homones (BC pills included), dairy, and meat. There is a link between saturated fat intake and painful cysts also. A good support bra is your friend.
Good luck to all.

I am 33 years old, and I've been having a sharp pain in my right breast. I've been having it for about a month now and it seems to be worse at night and first thing in the morning. Does anyone know what the possible cause of this is?

I'm 22 with sharp pain under the left side of my right breast. Couldn't sleep last night.
I'm glad the breast cancer thing was corrected, but we don't need multiple people correcting it. That's just pointless. This is the first thing that comes up in google, and this thread is completely useless.

Hi all , Instead of keeping the problem with us ... we should come out and do ultra sound and stay away from the fear that is hailing for looong ... Clearing up things is a better way to stay happy ... As it is recommended Umarried gals not to go for Xray ... one can for our own surety go for Ultrasound and consult a good gynaecologist
