i'm 25 and i experienced breast pain since 2 days ago. my right breast, the part closest to my under-arm feels sharp pain about every five minutes. besides, it was like there something swollen inside when i touch using my fingers. however, the skin around the my breast is just normal. i'm worried if it is a bad sign so i went to see a doctor. i feel shy when the doctor touch to inspect my breast. :$ the doctor told me that if it is cancer, it doesn't cause pain unless it has reached serious stage. what i experience is not dangerous, it was just inflamation of the tissue, things like that. the doctor suggested that i avoid cold foods. other than that, the doctor told me not to wear bra with padding for a while. just wear a thin bra to work and don't wear bra when i'm at home. the doctor then gave me some pain killer and medicine to reduce the swelling. now i feel relief. :-)

I too have been to the doctor and she thought it might be a pinched nerve. I had an x-ray done and was told I was fine. Still have the pain though. It helps to see there are others out there with the same symptoms. I was really getting worried. I'll let you know if I ever get any help. I don't drink much caffeine at all, but am going to try the tips above. Thanks

Hi there
I first experienced this sharp pin prick pain in my right breast when I was 11 and running up the stairs in school. I am now 26 and have since experienced this always in the same place on and off sometimes daily sometimes not for months. I recently was travelling and living on a diet of no caffeine, no dairy, very little alcohol and lots of water. (Im also veggie) I also had given up wearing bras out of fear of this pain (Im not very big though). During this time i NEVER experienced the pain, and since then very rarely (maybe twice in one year) although I now have alot of dairy and alcohol and occassionally wear bras.
So by process of elimination and my own opinion (and maybe im wrong), lots of water, no caffeine, and less alcohol were my cures, (maybe being vegetarian helps too) hope that helps someone!
I do intend on getting checked up soon just for peace of mind and dont doubt the power of that in itself!

I am 17 years old and starting at 8am today i began experiencing a very sharp pain on the inside of my left breast. I have a very high tolerance for pain but this pain brought me to tears. The pain is getting worse and spreading into my left shoulder. It hurts the most when i breathe. What should i do?

I find it funny that everyone keeps saying no caffeine because I have been a caffeine addict for 15 years and I am now 34. I decided to stop drinking any caffeine because I am breastfeeding. I have been caffeine free for 7 days and today I experienced this sharp shooting needle pain in the middle of my right breast for the first time. I think it's funny because I am now totally caffeine free and now it does this to me. :'(

I had the same intense shooting pains in my left breast a couple of years ago. It was like lightening or a needle and was worse if I lifted something. I was worried but kept putting it to the back of my mind hoping it was nothing serious. I eventually went to see my doctor and was referred to the breast clinic. The very nice female doctor put me at ease and after a thorough examination she explained it was probably a blocked duct. She said this is often caused by too much caffeine, dairy and smoking. I immediately detoxed as I was then a smoker and addicted to cheese and coffee(not any more!). Since my detox I have had none of the pains I had been experiencing. It frightened me to think what an effect my lifestyle habits could have on an area of my body I had never expected it could ( I was only 27).

I'm glad to hear that detoxing worked out for you and I had no idea that you could actually be allergic to dairy and get results like that. Do you have any tips on how to quit all of that all at once? That seems very intense.

I have been experiencing sharp pains in my left breast since my late teens, I'm 33 now. It's always in the same place but never the same intensity, nor does it follow any kind of pattern, ie before/after period. Sometimes it's like a little pin prick, other's it's so strong I'm doubled over in pain. Sometimes it's so intense, I consider a mastectomy.
Even when I don't experience Stabby Boob (as I call it!), the specific stab spot is very sensitive to pressure & can be quite painful if I press just that little bit harder on it.
I had an ultrasound a few years ago but all looked ok, the nurses just told me to check my breasts regularly as mine are natural lumpy. I'd like to say the doctors were helpful but they looked at me like I was telling them I had 10 heads dancing behind my ear 8-|

i also had sharp pain in my left breast, i went and saw my gyn had a breast exam and she blew it off... so i guess it does'nt mean that much.

I think it would be good to have a second opinion. If your doctor just 'blew it off' like you said, it doesn't sound like you got a good examination. Be sure to see a doctor who has time for you and let us know what he/she says, okay?

I had these same sharp pains in both of my breasts on different days. I went to my doctor and he told me that it could be caused by having too much caffeine in my system, I do drink a lot of soda. So, I am trying to stay away from caffeine, have not hurt since :-)

I also just started having these sharp stabbing pains in my right breast for the last 5 mornings in a row. It only happens when I roll over in bed first thing in the morning. After having read all of the posts, I believe it may be from too much caffeine, since I started taking a diet suppement just a week ago.

That's really strange and I think that caffeine might be the culprit. If you cut it out, can you let us know if the pain goes away? Let me know. THanks!
