Dear sir,

I knew Thiourea as silver cleaner which bought from jewely shop. I thought it is a kind of soap so I don't protect myself at all. I use my bare hand when dip the silver in the Thiourea and brush the silver like I use the dish washing solution. I smell something really bad smell but I don't protect myself. I use it for a couple time. I feel my nose is erritated.

I had been use it for a couple days without protection. Today I don't have any effect from it.

Does Thiourea leave the long term damage to me?

Is it OK to use it with glove?

Please advise.

Best Regards,
Jeff

Hallo,

I know that many use this to clean their silver and there is even a liquid form of this as detergent with slufamic acid. Thioureas is definitely poisonous but I am not sure if you could get it by just a touch. If you where using warm water to polish your sliver you might caught it from the vapor from the hot water. You need to avoid any further contact with it without any protection. I think that you don’t need to see a doctor and your problem will clean on its own after some time. However you should search for help if you notice any further complications such as dizziness. I hope this helped a bit.

Regards,

Karen
